Finally, WWE WrestleMania 39 Night One is here and we reviewed each match. Therefore, it is now time for our report card to provide grades.

WWE WrestleMania 39 Report Card: Grades Are In For Night One!

Pat McAfee vs The Miz

Truthfully, I do not like when WWE adds a match last minute. The show is running long and Pat McAfee against The Miz could never follow Charlotte Flair against Rhea Ripley.

I guess, WWE knows the short match will get ESPN coverage. Instead of a match, Snoop Dogg should have clocked The Miz to close the segment.

Easily, this match was the worst and McAfee’s moves are the only reason it gets a few points. Basically, this was the only blemish on WrestleMania 39 Night One. Grade: C-

United States Championship: Austin Theory vs John Cena

Austin Theory reminds me of John Cena 20 years ago, so a great pairing by WWE. We have to enjoy these moments as Cena’s days inside a ring are certainly winding-down.

I thought both men looked great inside the ring, especially considering they probably had no time to practice. We all knew the only way Theory would win was by cheating.

Clearly, WWE will push Theory towards the top after such a monumental victory. It was good to witness Cena inside the ring again as we have no clue when he will be back. Grade: B

Trish Stratus, Lita and Becky Lynch vs Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky)

Heading into the match, would Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky turn on Bayley or would Trish Stratus turn heel? Truthfully, I feel WWE brings Stratus and Lita out of retirement too frequently.

Damage CTRL worked well together, while Stratus seemed to have a little ring-rust. Overall, the match seemed to be missing that WrestleMania spark.

Although, the pace did improve during the final moments of the match when all hell broke-out. In the end, nobody turned on their teammates; for now. Grade: B

WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship: The Usos vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Source: @JustTalkWrestle, Twitter, Screenshot

What an interesting bout as The Usos have held those tag titles longer than anyone. Then, on the flip side, we have best friends and bitter enemies, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn working together again.

What a pop for Sami Zayn, who should be a World Champion before the year ends. Zayn’s angle with The Bloodline will go-down as one of the best storylines in WrestleMania history.

To the surprise of nobody, the match was good as both teams know how to work with anyone. With The Usos dropping the belts, it looks tomorrow will be the end of The Bloodline’s historic run. Grade: B+

Rey Mysterio vs Dominik Mysterio

For only the second time in WrestleMania history, a father and son did battle. Outside of The Bloodline, the Mysterio family drama was the biggest story of WrestleMania 39.

Both superstars had amazing entrances, reminiscent of Eddie Guerrero and Kane. Having the Mysterio family ringside only strengthened what a despicable person Dominik Mysterio has become in recent months.

The storytelling told throughout the match was better than the actual wrestling. Rey Mysterio won, but I imagine we see The Judgement Day against LWO and Bad Bunny in the coming months. Grade: B+

Seth Rollins vs Logan Paul

Before the bell even rang, Logan Paul with possibly the coolest, and some say tasteless, entrance of WrestleMania. Of course, the crowd sung Seth Rollins to the crowd, which was also great.

Logan is much better suited as a heel than face and Rollins was the perfect opponent. There highflying move-sets and counters is what needed to be showcased.

The table spot with KSI was nicely done and could be a feud down the line. Honestly, I figured the match would be full of more crazy high profile spots, but still a great encounter. Grade: B+

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley

During a Wrestlemania 39 promo, WWE stated this match would headline the show, but the late change felt disrespectful. Still, I feel fans preferred the tag team match closing the show over Charlotte Flair in the main event.

Rhea Ripley is supposed to be a major heel, but you would not know considering the fan reactions. Cool moment with the champion, challenger, referee and ring announcer all being women to make WrestleMania history.

You could tell how much Rhea has improved since their first encounter back at WrestleMania 36. Charlotte Flair took some scary looking bumps, but it was not enough as Rhea wins her first main roster title. Grade: A-

Braun Strowman and Ricochet vs The Street Profits vs Alpha Academy vs The Viking Raiders

This is one of those matches done to give more wrestlers a chance to compete on the WrestleMania 39 card. Although, no complaints as the actions was fast-paced and full of fun spots.

Nice spot with Chad Gable hitting a rolling German suplex on the massive Braun Strowman. Plus, props to The Viking Raiders and Strowman for not being afraid to fly off the top rope.

What a fun match from start to finish, as everyone showcased why they belong in that match. The Street Profits won, but there were not losers in that thriller. Grade: A-

So, how would you score WrestleMania 39 Night One?
