After a successful surprise WWE return at the Royal Rumble, Nia Jax goes over her mindset. Also, is Trish Stratus turning heel?

Nia Jax On Surprise WWE Return

The Royal Rumble is all about surprise entrants. Sometimes, they are major hits and others are total flops.

Lately, the Women’s Royal Rumble Match has seen more surprises than the men’s side. In all likelihood, that is because WWE’s main roster does not have as many female superstars.

The 2023 Royal Rumble was considered a major success and there were a few good surprise. Perhaps, the biggest was Nia Jax entering at number 30.

The crowd was stunned and seemed pleased. She last less than two minutes and scored no elimination before being tossed by 11 of other entrants.

She spoke about the moment  during a virtual signing hosted by East Coast Autograph Auctions. Nia admitted to being anxious as she was afraid the crowd would provide no reaction.

“I’m glad it was a surprise for everybody,” said Jax. “I was actually really happy that people remembered me.”

“I was nervous right before I walked out like, what if nobody remembers me? And, I walked out in the Rumble and it’s dead air.”

Nia Jax – WWE Return Was Slightly Botched

Her appearance did have one flaw as her entrance music played before the clock hit zero. Therefore, those in attendance knew she was there before the fans at home.

“I can’t say [why music played before the timer hit zero]. I know, but I can’t say.”

“But let’s just say somebody was super excited for me to be back and prematurely hit my music. But ,they were really happy I was back.”

“They were hoping it was more of a permanent thing. I almost cried myself. I was nervous, a nervous wreck.”

Since then, Nia has not returned to WWE TV. There is no word if WWE plans on brining her back down the line.

Jax was released by WWE in November 2021. No reason was given, but some speculated it involved her attitude or being too rough inside the ring.

WWE surprised fans with Lita returning to help Becky Lynch against Damage CTRL. It did not take long for Lynch and Lita to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Still, they were outnumbered. Then, Trish Stratus joined the mix to even the odds. Now, Lita, Stratus and Lynch will take on Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 39.

And, while not officially confirmed, WWE will book Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler to win the titles at the show. We are still waiting to see how that match will be booked.

According to WRKD Wrestling, the idea is for Stratus to turn heel. Then, it would lead to Stratus against Lynch at SummerSlam.

Stratus has not wrestled since SummerSlam 2019, when she lost to Charlotte Flair. And, the WWE Hall of Famer was last a heel in 2005.

It will be interesting to see if Lita also turns heel alongside her good friend, Stratus.
