During this past Monday Night RAW, a WrestleMania 39 match was set in stone. Brock Lesnar will be facing Omos, but this was not the original plan for the Beast Incarnate. Plus, according to Finn Balor, the Judgement Day stable will be expanding soon.
As per a report from Fightful Select, Omos was by no means on the top of Lesnar’s list of opponents for the Grandest Stage of Them All. In fact, it states the first name as a possible opponent for Lesnar was “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
The report notes that Austin was offered a lot of money in the summer, to face Lesnar at WM 39. This was after Vince McMahon retired.
Austin turned down that bout and even declined an alternative ‘Mania bout against Roman Reigns. The report states that the sum Austin was offered for a WM match against Reigns was a little less.
Internal WWE documents revealed in the fall note the second choice for Lesnar’s WrestleMania 39 match was Intercontinental Champ GUNTHER. However, this idea was nixed, too.
No reason was provided for the change. Still, it was noted that the IC title would not be on the line for the match.
After GUNTHER, Bobby Lashley was presented, and another opponent that was thought of was Bray Wyatt. Both possibilities were scrapped.
It’s unclear why the WWE did not move forward with a Brock Lesnar versus Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania, as the two still have unresolved issues from Elimination Chamber. But, in Wyatt’s case, Lesnar nixed the bout on his own for undisclosed reasons.
It was noted in the report that while Lesnar versus Omos is “a go”, there’s also an undisclosed backup plan in place. No other information was offered as to why there is a plan B established.
With that said, the report states that Brock Lesnar approved of facing Omos as soon as he was approached. It should make for an interesting WrestleMania 39 bout.
Speaking of WWE’s flagship event, Finn Balor revealed something interesting about his stable and WM 39 recently. Looks like Judgement Day is growing.
During a recent WWE The Bump, Finn Balor hinted that the Judgement Day stable could be growing after WrestleMania 39. He notes that the faction is “always planning”, “plotting”, and “scheming”.
During the segment, he also states that he, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, and Dominic Mysterio have a group chat where they “figure things out”. Whom could the faction be looking to recruit after WM 39?
The group was originally formed by WWE Hall of Famer Edge in 2022, after WrestleMania. Damian Priest was the first to join, then Rhea Ripley, and eventually Finn Balor. Although, once Balor entered, Edge was kicked out.
Dominic Mysterio entered the faction in the fall of 2022, turning on his dad Rey, as well as his longtime friend, Edge. While it’s been some months since the group has recruited talent, looks like they’ll start up again, post-WM season.
Who will be the next one to join the stable? Only time will tell!
