Over the past few weeks, calls have been growing for ABC to fire Whoopi Goldberg from “The View” after she doubled down on comments she made alleging that the Holocaust was not about race.

Now, sources are claiming that audience members at “The View” this week were told to applaud loudest for Goldberg and to not cheer for her co-hosts during the first shows back from the Christmas break.

Audience Told To Clap Louder For Goldberg

An insider alleged that before the live taping of Wednesday’s show, audience members were prepped on how they should cheer for Goldberg.

“The crowd warm-up comedian [Regina DeCicco] specifically told everyone to give a loud applause to Whoopi and then continue clapping for the other hosts,” one source with “The View” told The Sun

“It seemed like the crew wanted Whoopi to get a standing ovation to make her feel like she’s the star of the show,” the source added.

Goldberg, 67, serves as the moderator on “The View,” with her co-hosts being Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin. When asked if Goldberg was given “special treatment” over the other women, the insider replied, “when they went to commercial break, she got touch ups just as much as the other co-hosts.”

“The only difference is that the camera is on her first after returning from commercials since she’s the moderator,” the insider continued. “She also carried herself as if she had authority to talk over the other co-hosts and interrupt them.”

Despite the growing calls to fire Goldberg, the source said that she appeared calm behind-the-scenes of the January 4 show. This was the first regular show back since the holidays, as Tuesday’s show had been a tribute to “The View’s” creator Barbara Walters, who died last Friday at the age of 93.

“Behind the scenes, Whoopi appeared amicable with the co-hosts,” the source said. “She was chatty the most with Sara since they sit next to each other.”

Calls For Goldberg To Be Fired

Goldberg was suspended from “The View” for two weeks last year after she said that the Holocaust was not about race. Though she backtracked and apologized for this, she proceeded to double down in an interview with The Times of London last month.

“My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race,'” she said. “So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race.”

Though Goldberg has issued a groveling apology once again, many feel that it is not enough and that she should be fired.

“@TheView Whoopi Goldberg has repeated her slur that got her suspended from your show,” one social media user commented, according to Daily Mail. “So now it’s time to make that suspension permanent. She clearly learned nothing from her hateful rhetoric. #disgusted.”

“Here Whoopi Goldberg goes again talking about ABC & the Jews!” another user added. “When will she learn. She needs to be banned from TV all together nobody wants to listen to her BS.”

More Calls To Fire Goldberg

It’s not hard to see that if Goldberg were a white person who made a racist comment about black people, she would have been fired a long time ago. If ABC has to stoop so low as to force the audience to clap louder for Goldberg, perhaps the network should realize that taking a stand against anti-semitism by heeding calls to fire her might be a good idea.
