Whoopi Goldberg was suspended from “The View” for two weeks earlier this year after she outrageously claimed that the Holocaust was not about race. While she backtracked and apologized at the time, she is now defending her comments in a new interview that is causing calls for her to be fired by ABC to grow.

Goldberg Defends Holocaust Comments

Daily Mail reported that back in February, Goldberg was slammed after she claimed that the Holocaust wasn’t about race and was instead about “white on white” violence and “man’s inhumanity to man.” In a new interview with The Times of London, Goldberg defended these remarks when she was told that the Nazis thought the Holocaust was about race.

“Yes, but that’s the killer, isn’t it?” the 67 year-old Oscar winner said. “The oppressor is telling you what you are. Why are you believing them? They’re Nazis. Why believe what they’re saying?”

Goldberg went on to say that the Holocaust “wasn’t originally” about race.

“Remember who they were killing first,” she continued. “They were not killing racial; they were killing physical. They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision.”

Not stopping there, Goldberg then said that being Jewish was not a race like being black is because it isn’t identifiable.

“It doesn’t change the fact that you could not tell a Jew on a street,” she said. “You could find me. You couldn’t find them. That was the point I was making. But you would have thought that I’d taken a big old stinky dump on the table, butt naked.”

Goldberg Hit With Backlash

It didn’t take long for Goldberg’s comments to blow up in her face, and calls are growing for ABC to permanently fire her from “The View.” Her latest remarks were described as “incendiary” by the Times Of Israel, and Jewish journalists are saying that the former Sister Act star learned “nothing” from her suspension earlier this year, according to The Mail

“Whoopi Goldberg continues to use the Holocaust as her punching bag. We told her that her comments harm us and she simply doesn’t care,” tweeted Holocaust survivor and author Lucy Lipiner, 89.

“I survived the Nazis and the Holocaust, so I’ll be damned if I let a comedy has-been, peddling a fake Jewish name get the better of me,” she added.

“So, after supposed ‘apology’ earlier in year, Whoopi Goldberg doubles down on her vile remarks that the Holocaust was not about race, and instead ‘white on white’ violence,” tweeted human rights attorney Arsen Ostrovsky. “Someone get this ignorant fool off the air!”

Jewish journalist Eve Barlow called out Goldberg for falsely claiming that she was “cancelled” unfairly for her original comments back in February.

“Can someone tell Whoopi Goldberg that you can’t be canceled for anti-Semitism while still being given a platform on mainstream media?” she wrote. “Sincerely – a Jew who has been canceled.”

Backlash Intensifies

Others got in on the action as well:

Goldberg’s ignorance about the Holocaust has gone way too far, and it’s time that she be held accountable for her comments. If a white person made similar comments about the slave trade, he or she would have been fired a long time ago.

It remains to be seen whether ABC will stand by Goldberg, or take a stand against anti-semitism by getting rid of her once and for all.
