Inside The ‘Incredibly Sad’ Final Days Of Lisa Marie Presley Before She Died At 54

The world lost a true icon yesterday when Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, died of a heart attack at the age of 54. Now, new details have emerged about Presley’s final days before her untimely death.

Presley’s Final Days

Daily Mail reported that the last days of Presley’s life were busy ones, as she spent Sunday celebrating what would have been Elvis’ 88th birthday at his Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee. There, she told a crowd of his fans that they where the “only people who can bring me out of the house.”

The fans at the event noticed that Presley appeared to be “incredibly sad” and “really hurting,” as it came just two years after the suicide of her 27 year-old son Benjamin Keough, who is buried next to Elvis at Graceland. 

“It’s been a while. I’ve missed you. I love you,” Presley said in her speech at Graceland. “I keep saying you are the only people who can bring me out of the house. I’m not kidding. I love you back and that’s why I’m here.”

“Today, he would have been 88 years old, it’s hard to believe,” she continued. “I think that he would have been proud, I think this year’s been an incredible year. I think the movie was incredible and I’m very proud of it, I hope you guys are too. It’s just so moving how every year you come from all over the world and it’s moving to me and my family, and thank you.”

Presley Attends Golden Globes

On Tuesday, just two days before her death, Presley was in California for the Golden Globe Awards, where she watched Austin Butler win Best Actor for playing her father in the biopic Elvis. She was seen becoming emotional during Butler’s acceptance speech when he used Elvis’ signature drawl to pay tribute to her and her mother Priscilla.

“The Presley family, thank you guys for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me,” he said onstage. “Lisa Marie and Priscilla, I love you forever.”

While on the red carpet, in what turned out to be her final interview, Presley gushed over the Baz Luhrmann-directed movie Elvis, describing it as “truly mind-blowing.”

“I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it,” she told Entertainment Tonight of the biopic. “I had to take, like, five days to process it because it was so incredible and so spot on and just so authentic that, yeah, I can’t even describe what it meant.”

Presley went on to say that she was at the awards show “to support Austin and Baz and the film.”

“I’m so excited and I hope he wins,” she added of Butler.

Presley’s Death

Just two days later, Presley was found un-responsive by a housekeeper in her home in Calabasas. Her ex-husband, Danny Keough, who she had been living with at the time of her death, performed CPR on her as he waited for paramedics to arrive.

Though paramedics were able to regain Presley’s pulse twice as they rushed her to the hospital, she sadly did not make it and passed away. Her death comes 45 years after her father died of a heart attack at the age of 42. In 1958, Elvis’ mother Gladys died of a heart attack as well, indicating that heart issues may be hereditary in their family.
