Many fans may be surprised to learn that the country music legend Dolly Parton is the godmother of the singer Miley Cyrus. Now, Cyrus is speaking out to reveal that she is considering playing Parton in a biopic.

‘I Feel Like I’m Already Doing It’

When asked by E! News if she would play Parton onscreen, Cyrus replied, “Me and Dolly have never really spoken, honestly, about me playing Dolly because I feel like I’m already doing it.”

“I don’t know what they’re gonna do to me. I’m sucked, I’m tucked and plucked, just like she taught me,” she added.

Cyrus and Parton are preparing to host the second annual “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” in a few weeks, and the former “Hannah Montana” star said that the show could “not be more different” than last year’s special that she co-hosted with Pete Davidson.

“Because we do something similar, we get to do a really different show than we did last year,” explained Cyrus, 30. “And that’s what me and Lorne [Michaels] really want is every year, to do it in a way that’s exactly what you want, but not what you would expect.”

Cyrus also isn’t worried about things potentially not going according to plan on the show because she and Parton, 76, share an “unspoken, ‘I’ve got your back,'” bond.

“Anything that would ever happen, I know she could pick up,” she continued. “Anyone watching at home would never notice that something happened, that it wasn’t planned to.”

Parton Gushes Over Cyrus

Daily Mail reported that Parton opened up about Cyrus back in 2019, when the young singer was going through a divorce from her husband Liam Hemsworth.

“Lord, I’ve done everything, and what I ain’t done, I intend to,” Parton told People Magazine at the time. “She’s going to do that, too. But Miley’s smart; Miley knows what she’s doing.”

“I know we think she doesn’t, and she might not every minute, but I still know that she’s got good stuff in her,” she added.

Parton went on to say that as the godmother of Cyrus, she’s tried to pass on some of her knowledge to her.

“I’ve told her some things that I think are valuable and that she uses, but I’d rather live an example’ and ‘be an example rather than just try to tell somebody to do this, do that because I don’t think that’s right,” she said.

“Everybody’s different. You’ve got your own journey,” Parton continued. “And some people are going to help you along the way and they can kick a few rocks out of the road for you, but you got to walk it.”

‘I’ve Always Loved Her’

Today reported that Parton recently opened up about how much she loves sharing the spotlight with Cyrus.

“Just getting to be with her, and letting people kind of see our relationship in addition to how well our voices blend,” she said.

“I’ve always loved her, since she was little, and I knew she was special,” Parton once told Marie Claire. “She just had a light about her. Her sparkle, and her smile, and her eyes were always full of wonder.”

If a biopic ever were to be made about Parton, it’s undoubtable that most top actresses in Hollywood would be clamoring to play her. It remains to be seen if Cyrus will ever get the opportunity to portray her godmother on the big screen!
