Michelle Obama Drops Bomb – Admits She ‘Couldn’t Stand’ Barack ‘For 10 Years’

The former First Lady Michelle Obama recently gave a truly shocking interview in which she admitted that she “couldn’t stand” her husband Barack for a decade during their marriage. 

‘I Couldn’t Stand My Husband’

Fox News reported that Michelle explained that she “couldn’t stand” Barack when their two children Malia and Sasha were young.

“People think I’m being catty for saying this: it’s like, there were 10 years where I couldn’t stand my husband,” Michelle said. “And guess when it happened? When those kids were little.”

Malia and Sasha, who are now 24 and 21, were only 10 and 7 when their family moved into the White House back in 2009. 

“For 10 years while we’re trying to build our careers and worrying about school and who’s doing what and what, I was like, ‘Argh, this isn’t even!’” Michelle continued. “And guess what? Marriage isn’t 50/50, ever. Ever. There are times I’m 70, he’s 30. There are times he’s 60, 40. But guess what? Ten years. We’ve been married 30. I would take 10 bad years over 30 — it’s just how you look at it. People give up — ‘Five years; I can’t take it.’”

Michelle And Barack’s History

Barack and Michelle met at a law firm in Chicago, Illinois back in 1989, and they married three years later in 1992. They now have an estimated net worth of $70 million after signing lucrative book deals and a $50 million Netflix deal.

Michelle has been opening up about challenges in her marriage more than ever lately as she promotes her latest memoir “The Light We Carry,” which was published in November.

“Do you like him?” she said of Barack in a December interview. “I mean, you could be mad at him, but do you still look at him and go, ‘I’m not happy with you, but I respect you. I don’t agree with you, but you’re still a kind, smart person.'”

Michelle has also been quick to dole out marriage advice on her book tour.

Michelle’s Marriage Advice

“Marriage is never 50/50,” she recently said, according to CNBC. “You kind of wonder how that idea got out there. If I look over my marriage, if I were to judge it in year 5 or year 10, there was never 50/50. Somebody was always giving way more.” 

“There were times when I felt I was 70% in and he was doing 30% and I had to compromise, as he has,” she continued. “Because of the choices that I made and the terms of how I wanted our family to look, I had to take my foot off of my career gas pedal, never putting on the break, but slowing up a bit.”

Michelle went on lament that young people give up on their relationships far too quickly these days. 

“I think it’s important for us to be honest in those conversations not to glamorize what a partnership feels like because then young people quit too soon,” she said. “They quit before they’ve really played out the full scenario.”

Though many will undoubtedly agree with some of what Michelle had to say about marriage, we can’t imagine that Barack will be happy to see that his wife has admitted to the world that she “couldn’t stand” him for one third of their marriage. We wouldn’t be surprised if someone is sleeping on the couch at the Obama house tonight!
