SmackDown In A Nutshell: WarGames Is Getting Closer

It’s time for SmackDown In A Nutshell, and you can’t help but notice…WarGames is getting closer.

In case you didn’t know, WarGames happens next Saturday, so it is indeed getting closer by the minute.

We know most of the women’s WarGames match-just one open spot, I believe, for now.

The men? Same idea, with The Bloodline all set.

But…who will join the Brutes and Drew? Will we find out tonight?

Is Kevin Owens going to surprise us and not be as injured as reported?

WarGames is getting closer, and this has been a very exciting build.

I can’t wait 8 more days…but wait we shall.

Lets not wait anymore for this one though…it is time for…

SmackDown In A Nutshell: WarGames Is Getting Closer

Let’s crack this one open and find out!

Best Match of the night:

I rather enjoyed Butch and Sami Zayn.

The aftermath was even better.

Worst match of the night:

Madcap and Karrion was short. Not bad, just short.

Could knock the Imperium/New Day + Strowman match, if only because…GUNTHER seemed scared of Braun?

Crowd Chants of the Night:

Let’s just say the crowd was so hot and rowdy that audio completely dropped out for a few seconds once Owens got into the ring…

Star of the Night

LA Knight and Bray Wyatt were awesome.

Owens was too. So much for that bum knee, eh?

Spot of the Night:

Yes I complain about it later…but…

Jobber of the Night:

Thinking this one is Madcap Moss tonight.

Upset of the Night:

I think that maybe we could call Butch over Zayn a minor upset.

Ditto Shotzi over Shayna, but she did have some help.

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

The subtle touches, the execution, the slaps.

Hard not to be into the LA Knight/Bray Wyatt feud.

Uncle Howdy looming. Bray fighting his evil forces.

Knight being cocky. And then all the little details…

Botch of the night:

While the standing shooting star was cool…I don’t like how you have to see Ali lean backwards to make it happen.

Like…yes it is all choreographed…but that just makes it too obvious.

Kind of like when someone is too far out of position, but “out cold” on the mat…and they wiggle two feet over into position.

I get why. But it’s sloppy.

LOL Moment of the night:

I shall just leave this here:

Noteworthy Moment:

Long term storytelling. Subtle stuff.

Look in the background here…

And that gave us the laid out LA Knight.

Plus…this Wyatt face is pure gold.

Overall lowlights:

This will be a funny one to say…but having member number five be KO? It was a mild letdown.

I mean…I do LOVE the move, it was predictable, it makes sense.

After all the injury chatter this week, however? It seemed unlikely.

And just like that, folks had been speculating, thinking of other names we could see instead.

But…it was Owens.

Overall highlights:

Now, forget what I said just now, because Owens coming in was awesome.

Fans clearly had not expected him, given what we’d heard about his tweaked knee and having not seen him in a bit.

But he was here, and he got a massive holy sh!@ chant. So much so that a good five seconds during his and Reigns’ stare down had no audio.

Wyatt, Knight and Uncle Howdy? That’s getting good too.

After the final bell:

Is it just me, or is that World Cup final looking like it will be Strowman and Escobar, with Braun getting GUNTHER?

Otherwise, really really good show.

I feel like, and I am going out on a limb here, we might see Reigns get pinned for the first time in a while.

Owens and Butch bring the WarGames experience. KO wants Reigns again.

It’s a non-title match, which could be the key. After all, WWE did have Bayley pin Bianca, for the first time in like, a year at the Clash.

And Belair is still the champ.

Lots to consider, lots to like. WarGames is getting closer, and I for one am all for it.
