Brandi Rhodes WWE Return? + AEW Reclassifies Women’s Title

Brandi Rhodes left the land of professional wrestling last February when she bid adieu to AEW. Her hubby landed in the WWE at WrestleMania 38. Since Cody’s splashy return, rumors have been buzzing if Ms. Rhodes would follow suit. WNZ has an update on this!

Brandi Rhodes WWE Return?

Brandi has previously stated she had no intention to follow in her husband’s footsteps with a WWE return. With that said, during a recent interview, she added some insight.

While talking with NBC’s Ten Count, she notes she hasn’t had a “professional” conversation with HHH. She states that she did speak with former Chairman, Vincent Kennedy McMahon, as well as his daughter Stephanie after she left AEW.

Brandi Rhodes Will Not Make A WWE Return, Soon, But Cody?

The former WWE ring announcer does say that she spoke to Triple H at Wrestlemania. However, it was only a “friendly” exchange.

The good news is that Cody Rhodes is on the cusp of a WWE return, from injury. According to reports, he’s preparing to head back to the ring, he just needs to be medically cleared.

Brandi acted as a ring announcer in the WWE. However, when she entered the indie circuit, she started the in-ring component of her wrestling business career.

As well, Ms. Rhodes wrestled in Impact, Ring of Honor, and AEW. Would she do the same in the WWE or play a managerial role?

It’s hard to say. Only time will tell.

Over to the land of AEW, Thunder Rosa made an incredible Women’s Champion. Sadly, an injury halted her reign.

Toni Storm became an interim champ at the All Out event, as such. She held that title until she was defeated by Jamie Hayter.

With the ongoing changes in the title, AEW has had to reclassify the reigns of the Women’s Championship. More on this story, below.

AEW Reclassifies Women’s Title

It was announced on the recent Dynamite that Thunder Rosa has relinquished her Women’s title. Therefore, this means Hayter is no longer the “Interim” Women’s Champion.

As the show progressed, AEW confirmed that “Interim” would be taken out of Storm’s Championship reign, too. Dave Meltzer chats about this during a recent Wrestling Observer Radio.

Dave believes the promotion was attempting to reclassify Storm’s title reign from the moment she scored the championship at All Out. Meltzer feels that “things got weird” when AEW stripped the “Interim” label from her reign after the fact when it was there during the entire run.

Rewriting History?

AEW made the right call to strip the title off Thunder Rosa. After all, she’s still struggling with her injury, and it’s been three months since she’s been on television.

With that said, re-writing the history of the AEW Women’s title may not have been the best decision. This may not “sit well” with some in the industry and fans as well.

The AEW Women’s title first entered storylines in October 2019. Riho became the inaugural champion after beating Nyla Rose.

There has been a total of seven ladies to hold the title. Including Riho, Rosa, Storm, and Hayter, Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, and Dr. Britt Baker have been crowned AEW Women’s World Champion in the three years the championship has existed.
