Warner Bros Discovery pushed for Cody Rhodes to stay with AEW, but we know how that ended. Also, is Juice Robinson All Elite?

Warner Bros. Wanted Cody Rhodes

In the beginning of AEW, Cody Rhodes was one of the biggest names. Many gave Rhodes credit for helping start AEW and making it a valuable company.

Then, people were shocked to hear Rhodes and Khan could not agree on a new deal. Therefore, Rhodes left AEW after about three years after developing the company.

Rhodes would officially return to WWE during WrestleMania 38, where he defeated Seth Rollins.

Sean Ross Sapp reports that Warner Bros. Discovery executives pushed for Cody Rhodes to remain in AEW.

“In speaking with Warner Bros Discovery sources, we’re told that several efforts were made within the company to retain Cody Rhodes in AEW,” said Sapp. “Between AEW, Rhodes to the Top and Go Big Show, Rhodes had developed a good rapport with several in WarnerMedia at the time.”

“We’re told that the Cody Rhodes WWE deal wasn’t official until a few weeks before WrestleMania, even though WWE considered it a foregone conclusion. As a result, after the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery, there were inquiries in the company completely separate of AEW to gauge Rhodes’ interest in staying.”

Rhodes is back in WWE, but unfortunately injured. He likely will be out of action until around January or maybe a bit longer.

So far, he only has focused on feuding with Rollins. Rhodes won all the matches, including one inside Hell in a Cell.

Before the Hell in a Cell match, Rhodes tore his pectoral muscle. It was disgusting to see, but somehow he won a match that received universal praise.

Juice Robinson has only had one match for AEW, but that was enough for the promotion. Apparently, the company wants more from the 33 year old.

According to a new report from PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, AEW has “massive interest” in Robinson. In fact they offered him a deal to be a regular member of their roster.

In his first match with the company, Robinson lost to new AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. The 11 minute main event match was entreating and hard-hitting from the minute the bell rang.

Robinson first gained the attention of most fans during his time in WWE’s developmental system. That lasted about four hours until it was time to move-on and it was a great decision.

He is most known for his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). He was a three time IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship and Tag Team Champion.

Also, he was a member of the Bullet Club.

According to Robinson, he is longer under contract with NJPW. He made that announcement about 10 days ago and it was a surprise to many people.

And, it might help that his wife works for AEW. She is none other than Interim Women’s Champion, Toni Storm.
