Joy Behar, who just recently turned 80, came unglued on Thursday’s episode of The View when she snapped at producer Brian Teta for attempting to cut her off and send the ABC talk show to a commercial.

Behar Snaps

Things went off the rails during a segment about the Pennsylvania Senate race between Dr. Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman when Behar said “the Democrats need to get behind John Fetterman because he’s qualified, and Mehmet Oz is a loser.”

With the full support of her audience, Behar added, “Let’s just talk —” before staring off at the spectators with a confused look on her face.

As transcribed by Decider, Behar said, “Brian doesn’t like that I called him a loser,” Behar then said, referring to Teta, the executive producer of The View. He immediately chimed in from off-camera to say that he wasn’t trying to shut down what Behar was saying, and instead just wanted to send the show to the scheduled commercial break.

“No, I don’t like that we’re out of time,” Teta replied. “We’ve gotta go to break … we can come back.”

Behar responded, “Alright” before her co-host Whoopi Goldberg attempted to break the tension asking, “Would you like to come back and say what you wanted to say?” to which the visibly livid host replied with an unceremonious “Sure.”

“I mean, you should actually be sitting up here today!” Goldberg jokingly encouraged Teta, who shook his head in response while mouthing a “no.”

Teta Pulled Into Sexting Conversation

This is far from the first time that Teta has reluctantly been dragged into a segment on The View. Just last month, he was brought into a discussion about sexting when co-host Sunny Hostin opened up about receiving an unsolicited “weenie pic,” with him trying to stop the chat before it became too explicit for TV.

“All right. Brian is saying, ‘Cut it now,’” Behar said at the time, The Sun reported. “Should we go to break, Brian?”

“We’re ready, yeah,” Teta said in response.

Behar’s Absence From ‘The View’ Explained

Behar returned to The View this week after being absent from the show for over a week. It was only when she returned on Wednesday that she revealed that she’d been gone because she treated herself to a cruise in Spain for her 80th birthday. When she got back, she told her co-hosts that she enjoyed spending time on the dance floor with some female friends that she made on the ship.

“At some point, you’re just sick of being with your husband, and you turn to women,” she joked, according to The Sun. “So all the women started dancing together.”

While Behar isn’t a huge fan of birthdays, she seems to be at peace with being 80

“You know, this is what 80 looks like, okay!” Behar told The View‘s audience, according to People Magazine. “Gloria Steinem famously said ‘This is what 40 looks like,’ so I’m following Gloria. Last week, Judy Tend died — she was a wonderful, hilarious comedian. 72 years old, she had ovarian [cancer]. Bless her heart. So it’s a privilege to be here.”

Judging by how she snapped at Teta, however, it seems that Behar may be more stressed about her birthday than she was letting on. Her behavior towards him is a window into what it’s really like to work with Behar behind the scenes. Our heart goes out to Teta, because dealing with Behar and her ego on a daily basis cannot be easy!
