Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) recently6 released its top 500 for 2022. Therefore, it’s not overly surprising that Roman Reigns has hit the #1 spot this year. However, there has been some fan backlash about some former stablemates of his that got the snub. More on this story, below.

Roman Reigns Hits #1 For PWI 2022

Simply put, WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns is on roll. Not only has he stomped over every challenger since his return in 2020, but now he has another accolade to enjoy.

PWI revealed that the Tribal Chief hit the number one spot for its yearly 500 top superstars list in 2022. This marks the second time in his career that he’s been acknowledged in this way.

Back in 2016, he was number one on that year’s top 500 list. Last year in 2021, Reigns finished second.

Roman is joined by some pretty incredible wrestling talents. Kaxuchika Okada took the second spot, while CM Punk was at number three.

Meanwhile, Adam Page hit number four, with WWE U.S. Champion Bobby Lashley at the number five position. Cody Rhodes hit the top 10, at number six, with Bryan Danielson hitting the seventh spot.

Rounding out spots eight, nine, and 10 include El Hijo del Vikingo (AAA Mega Champion), Big E, and Jonathan Gresham. Those are the superstars who made the top 10 … but who were the ones snubbed?

Roman Reigns Hits #1 For PWI 2022 – But Who Was Snubbed?

There are some fans out there who were frustrated a bit, at the PWI powers that be. This was because some superstars were snubbed from the top 10.

More notably, many noticed that Roman’s former Shield mates, Jon Moxley and Seth Rollins. You can look at the tweets posted by some, throughout this article.

It’s important to note that Moxley hit #12 this year, while Rollins was at #17, and both hit the top 20 ranks. These positions are nothing to fluff off, especially when you consider the list is a top 500 one. 

Over to the land of NXT, there’s some unfortunate news. Sadly, a superstar is being reported as injured.

NXT Superstar Injured

According to WrestlingNew.co, wrestler Tony D’Angelo suffered an injury during last night’s NXT tapings. The WWE generally films two weeks’ worth of shows on Wednesday nights.

With that said, there’s some conflicting information about the injury at hand. One source reveals it could be a head injury.

Looks like Tony may have hit his head off the corner of the ring at one point during his match. Meanwhile, two other sources say it’s a knee injury.

The Match Was Stopped

As per the report, the match D’Angelo was in stopped. Trainers tended to the superstar.

At this point in time, there’s no word on how long he may be out of action. There’s no information on the severity of his injury.

After several weeks of vignettes, Tony D’Angelo finally debuted on NXT 2.0 in October 2021. He faced Malik Blade in his first match and defeated him.
