Recently, many AEW fans were disappointed to learn that Malakai Black had left the promotion. Reports revealed that the star was an “exception to the rule” when he got a conditional release. With that said, Black recently confirmed he’s still with the company.

Malakai Black Hasn’t Left AEW

Black recently jumped on Instagram and did a live session for his followers. During this, he confirmed that he’s not left AEW.

The talent states in the live stream that there’s “no conspiracy”. He’s simply just enjoying some time off.

He notes that he might be taking a couple of weeks or a couple of months off. Black made it clear that he’d be returning to AEW at some point soon.

Malakai Black Hasn’t Been Released From AEW

Black made it known in that live stream multiple times that he hadn’t been released from AEW. He seemed very frustrated his time off was twisted to make it seem that he had left the company.

In June 2021, Malakai was released by the WWE. By that July, he made his AEW debut.

What’s next for Black? Only time will tell.

Meanwhile in the WWE, John Cena is on the cusp of breaking on over 20-year streak he has with the company. Details on this story, below.

John Cena Streak Could End Soon

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp recently pointed out something very interesting about John Cena. It also involves a 21-year streak no one has thought of.

Believe it or not, 2022 could mark the first calendar year that John hasn’t wrestled one match since he first joined the company. Cena joined the WWE (developmental) in 2001.

He debuted on the main roster during a June 2002 SmackDown episode, participating in a segment with Kurt Angle. While Cena’s been busy with Hollywood projects in recent years, he has always been able to squeeze in a pay-per-view (PPV) match here and there.

With that said, John’s last WWE match took place at the 2021 SummerSlam. For those that recall, he was defeated by WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.

Will John Cena’s WWE Streak, End?

Before that, John Cena was part of a cinematic match with Bray Wyatt during WrestleMania 36 in 2020. However, he did miss WrestleMania 37, due to filming and travel restrictions around the COVID-19 pandemic.

He was in Canada filming for the series Peacemaker on HBO Max. Travel COVID rules into Canada noted that everyone had to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival into the country and doing so would’ve shut down production.

WrestleMania 37 was the first WM Cena missed in over two decades. With that said, John did not participate in WM 38 this year.

While no one can entirely predict the future, there’s a good chance that John Cena’s current streak will come to an end as 2022 rounds a close. On the rare occasion that Cena does wrestle, it’s generally on a Big Four PPV.

Survivor Series is the next and final “marquee” WWE PPV for 2022, and it’s right around the corner on November 26th. However, there don’t seem to be any indicators that the former 16-time World Champion will be a part of the event.
