AEW Hosting Two-Night PPVs?

After a few years in the business, fans are starting to see a pattern with pay per views. AEW is sticking to the names and nobody is complaining. 

Although, there is one problem with such large cards. They often run close to midnight on the east coast.

That means people might not get home until 2am after leaving the arena and sitting in traffic. WWE had that problem with WrestleMania, so they recently switched the event to a two night affair. 

Seemingly, splitting the card works great. Whether home or at the arena, after a few hours, fatigue kicks-in.

Recently, Dustin Rhodes stated he thinks AEW will follow WWE with two-night pay per views. On Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan does not know where that info came from.

“But, I actually saw one from inside the company that I was kind of surprised by because it’s not something we’ve ever really said or business planned or anything,” said Khan. “I saw a report that we were talking about doing two-day pay-per-views, and I was like, who said that?”

“I looked and it was Dustin and I was like, why would Dustin say that. Love Dustin so much and I was surprised that he said it because it’s not something we seriously internally discussed.”

“At times, I like looking at other business models,” said Kahn. “At most, I’ve said, that’s an interesting business model, but far from saying, that’s how I’m taking our stuff or that’s what I’m going to do.” 

AEW Not Hosting Two-Night PPVs

“I’m definitely not doing that. Even if I was, and I’m not, I probably wouldn’t want somebody to break that news at a panel. I can honestly say, that’s not what we’re doing anyway.” 

“I was surprised by that. For the long-term, foreseeable future, I still see the pay-per-views being the great on-day events we’ve been doing. A lot of people were like, how is that going to work, what is that about?” 

“Well, it’s not going to work, it’s not about anything. It’s not true.”

The one positive point about AEW pay per views is they usually are great from start to finish. The deeper the card, the better quality matches produced.

AEW returns to pay per view on September 4 for All Out. It comes from the Now Arena, which is not far from Chicago.

Star Prefers AEW Over WWE

After a brief stint, Konosuke Takeshita returned to AEW earlier in the year. For the most part, the Japanese wrestler competed on Dark, but also on Dynamite and Rampage.

The past four months have shown the 27 year old can be a future world champion. For now, his time in AEW is over as he heads back to likely work for DDT Pro-Wrestling.

While speaking to Cultaholic, Takeshita spoke about the next few months. One thing he wants to avoid is WWE as he likes what AEW produces.

“To be honest, now I’m not interested in WWE,” said Takeshita. “My next goal is more fights in AEW I hope.” 

“So, I have to go to back to Japan in August and September. Maybe, not decided yet, I hope I go back to America in October.” 

“Then if I stay in the US I can come to the UK more times. From Japan to the UK is so far but US to UK is maybe seven hours. It’s possible.”

A lot can happen between that time, so we will see where the young man lands. From the sounds of its, AEW would welcome him back with open arms.
