Here’s Why Jason Aldean Is Terrified To Present At Tonight’s ACM Awards, Hosted By Dolly Parton

The American Country Music Awards (ACMs) are set to take place tonight, with the legend Dolly Parton hosting them, and country music star Jason Aldean is up for three nominations while also being scheduled to perform. What may surprise you, however, is that Aldean is most nervous about presenting at the show. 

Aldean Nervous About Presenting

“I don’t know if you’d necessarily call it presenting — I’m setting an artist up to sing. I think it’s the first time I’ve ever done that, actually,” Aldean told Taste Of Country. 

Aldean went on to explain that what makes him nervous is the logistics of the whole thing. 

“I know you have to read a teleprompter,” he said. “If you see me up there squinting, it’s because I can’t see. I’m that guy on my phone with the largest font you can get, because I can’t see it anymore. I need Lasik.”

The 2022 ACMs will be happening at 8pm EST at the Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, and it can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video. The show will be hosted by Dolly Parton, who is very “excited” about doing the awards.

‘I’m Looking Forward To It’

“I guess you can say that I like being at the cutting edge of things, so working with this new technology makes sense with that. It’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to it,” Parton told The Tennesseean earlier this week.

“In the past, I’ve had contracts where I worked for 12 weeks a year in Las Vegas,” Parton said when asked what makes Las Vegas so special to her. 

“I had a great time staying in some of the world’s best hotels, eating free food, and trying to not order so much room service as a way to pass the time between my shows,” she joked. “It’s a magical city, and I love how much the city celebrates entertainment. It’s hot out there, though, so besides the shows and the casinos, there’s really not a whole lot to do.”

‘I’ve Played Venues Of All Sizes’

“Country music’s doing big shows and streaming out in Vegas,” Parton said. “It’s great for the city because I suppose — like country music did, too — that they suffered a great deal [because of] COVID-19, as the virus hit [Vegas] really hard. Large, small, and in-between, I’ve played venues of all sizes.”

Awards shows like this one have always been something that Parton has had fun with.

“You’re sitting there, waiting, and there are three or four other people nominated,” she said. “When they announce your name as the winner, it’s a jolt that makes you sit upright in your chair and stand up!”

We can’t wait to see how things go for Aldean and Parton at the ACMs tonight! This will definitely be an awards show to remember, that’s for sure.
