Thunder Rosa recently snagged the AEW Women’s World title from Dr. Britt Baker. She paid NBC Sports Boston’s Ten Count a visit to chat about her win, and other topics, including how Brock Lesnar once upset her.
Thunder Rosa talked about a variety of things during her interview. For one, she reveals she wants to be a fighting champion.
As she puts it, she can’t “stay still”. Rosa notes she wants to bring something “different” to the table with this title.
If it’s possible, she’d love to take the AEW Women Championship to Japan and Mexico and defend the title there. She states that Kenny Omega was able to do that, so it’s time for women champions to do something like that, too.
Rosa also talked about the polarizing fan response her match with Britt Baker got. Not only for the bout itself but her mariachi entrance.
Thunder Rosa notes that she believes some pro wrestling fans have been programmed to react a certain way. She states that “everyone’s going to criticize” no matter what.
Then she talks about her entrance and notes a time when Brock Lesnar made fun of Eddie Guerrero with mariachi. Rosa states “that hurt” because they were making fun of her culture.
She points out that she “represented” her culture through her entrance that Wednesday properly, with respect and honor. But some people don’t acknowledge that.
In addition, Thunder Rosa also chats about the AEW Women’s Division. The work they’ve done to move forward, and other work that still needs to be done.
She notes she will be more outspoken about what she wants to see within the division. She also talks about Mission Pro Wrestling, the women’s promotion she runs.
Looks like Thunder Rosa will do some big things as AEW Women’s Champion. The promotion is lucky to have a talented and passionate star on their roster.
AEW has also extended the contract of another key player on their team. More on this, below.
According to Fightful Select, Ethan Page has extended his AEW contract. This was inked late last year.
“All Ego” Ethan Page signed with the company in early 2021. The report notes his extension contract was signed later in 2021.
The exact terms of his contract are unknown. However, it is expected that Page will stay with the AEW for quite a long while.
Ethan began training in early 2006 and debuted later that year. He hopped on the independent scene in 2013.
He wrestled in Ring of Honor (ROH) and Impact before he hit AEW in 2021. In fact, he held the Impact World Tag Team Titles with Josh Alexander, twice.
Page debuted with AEW at the Revolution pay-per-view (PPV) in March of last year. He’s aligned with Scorpio Sky and has had some interesting programs along the way.
Ethan moved to the U.S. from Canada, recently. He has a successful YouTube vlog that continues to grow in viewership.
