Mike Rowe Fires Back At Backlash Over Filming ‘Dirty Jobs’ During Pandemic

Mike Rowe is firing back at haters who feel that he should not have filmed his show “Dirty Jobs” during a pandemic, saying that “COVID was never going to be ‘defeated’ by hunkering down and waiting for the ‘all clear.’”

Rowe ‘Couldn’t Be More Proud’ Of ‘Dirty Jobs’

“Dirty Jobs” has returned after a 10-year hiatus, and Mike Rowe feels that the show is more relevant today than it ever was. You can watch “Dirty Jobs” on Discovery+.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our decision to move forward with a reboot of this show,” Rowe said in a statement posted to Facebook.

“Once again, the headlines have caught up to the themes of ‘Dirty Jobs,’ and I hope the country will benefit from another look at those who have prospered by learning a skill that’s in demand, and putting those skills to work,” he added.

Rowe Addresses ‘Highly Critical’ Fans

When Episode 2 of the latest season was filmed in March of 2021, Rowe recalled that many fans were “highly critical” of his decision to “film a TV show when so much of the country was still locked down.”

“Some still are,” he said. “Just yesterday, I was accused of taking ‘unnecessary risks,’ and ‘needlessly jeopardizing the safety of my crew to deliver a TV show that simply didn’t need to be produced.’”

However, when we’re living in a time when we’re facing a shutdown of our entire country every day, Rowe said, “Those people were wrong then, and they are wrong today.”

“Covid was never going to be ‘defeated’ by hunkering down and waiting for the all clear. America doesn’t work without work. My crew, and the people featured on this program understood that,” he concluded. “What a privilege to be in their company.”

Rowe Doubles Down

Rowe later doubled down on this in an addendum in which he wrote, “It’s worth noting, I think, that during a time when 11 million jobs are currently open… These men never stopped. Not because someone told them they were ‘essential.’ They already knew that. No, these men kept working, because working is what they do, come hell or high water.”

“And if that doesn’t perfectly sum up the American spirit, nothing ever will.” he added.

At a time when leftists are constantly promoting handouts and freeloading lifestyles, Rowe has made a career out of profiling Americans who love working hard for to make a living.

People can hate on him for doing his show during COVID all that they want to, but the theme of “Dirty Jobs” really is more important now than it ever has been before.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
