RAW In A Nutshell: Can Liv Morgan Win The Big One?

It’s Monday once again, which brings us to another RAW In A Nutshell. This week’s question should be quite obvious: can Liv Morgan win The Big One?

The Big One, of course, being the RAW Women’s Championship.

Liv Morgan faces Becky Lynch on RAW for the title, a match that is several weeks in the making.

So, can Liv win the big one? Or will this RAW In A Nutshell come and go with The Man remaining the red brand women’s champion?

Considering we are but a few weeks away from the next major PPV-and the first for 2022-I feel like a title change is unlikely.

However, a match going sideways, in a manner that sets up a title rematch for Day One? That makes complete and total WWE sense.

Those are my feelings in a nutshell, but how this RAW In A Nutshell goes?

That remains to be seen. Whether Liv Morgan can win the big one also is up in the air, but by the time we wrap this Nutshell, we will know the answer.

We have more in store, for sure, but that is the main attraction this week.

All else will drive toward Day One as well, naturally.

In any case, it’s time to get into another one, so let’s get into…

RAW In A Nutshell: Can Liv Morgan Win The Big One?

Let’s crack open this Nutshell and find out!

Best Match of the night:

Cage match was good…

Main event was better.

Both matches, specifically the endings, ensured some follow up events yet to come.

I expect to see Liv and Becky one more time, at least, at Day 1. Will be interesting to see if Liv goes over.

Worst match of the night:

Nothing against Dom and Rey…but I feel like Alpha Academy deserves better.

I mean, we saw them not only lose…but lose in a match in short order, where Otis never even got the tag.

Disappointing, to say the least.

Star of the Night

The three (or four?) in the Day 1 WWE Championship match all deserve some love here.

Enjoyed Edge and Miz in the MizTV segment too.

Doudrop looked good, even though she bailed on her match.

Liv and Becky round this out. I think, in the loss, WWE (and Becky) did a lot to help establish Liv as a legit top-level Superstar.

While Morgan did not win, she also did not lose clean…and even in the loss, I feel like she got elevated.

Spot of the Night:

In a sense it was telegraphed. When Miz called Edge out for not having speared him last week, it felt obvious.

So after Miz declined Edge’s invite to tango in Memphis…no real surprise, was it, that Edge would knock him on his keester.

Jobber of the Night:

Going with Alpha Academy here.

Upset of the Night:

Not a specific upset, per se. However, I was very surprised to see neither heel tag team win.

No, it does not always have to be heel versus face. However, you now have two face teams, vying to face…another face team.

So yes, I was surprised that neither heel team got a win.

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

Big move to start the show with the cage match between Big E and Kevin Owens-which was overshadowed by Morgan-Lynch anyways.

It was a good cage match, especially for RAW.

The action went a long way toward setting up the Day One triple threat, because Seth Rollins got involved before and after.

That is not the holy sh!@ part, however.

No, for that we go with Lashley destroying Big E after the match as well.

Question now is…will they somehow turn this into a fatal four way? Or is this just a long play toward Big E’s next challenger.

Botch of the night:

Miz challenged Edge to a match. That was not the botch.

The event is called Day One, happening January One. Miz called it January One.

LOL Moment of the night:

RK-Bro, and specifically Riddle, channeling his inner Lord Alfred Hayes with the retro WWE blazer.

Noteworthy Moment:

It’s a bit odd, but I enjoyed the idea of the RK-Bronament.

Too often we seemingly, at random, find out a new number one contender. The tourney, though itself random, came off different.

Also will be interesting how it plays out, with The Street Profits and Mysterios battling next week to see who our new number one contender is.

Odd choice, two face teams…unless we finally see a Mysterios turn, or implosion?

Overall lowlights:

Considering at least one reason why Lawler is off WWE TV, I found it just wrong to do the backstage segment. Like having some random person look like she wanted Nikki’s autograph?

Only to actually want The King’s? For what, a cheap pop?

To make Nikki feel worse?

Only hope I have here is that this is the way WWE retires Nikki A.S.H. and brings back the crazy Nikki from her days with, and after, Sanity.

Overall highlights:

Opening match = cage match? Sure, why not.

Main event getting a decent, if not great, amount of time to work with…and delivering? Absolutely.

Not saying either ends up as a match of the year candidate, but I felt like we opened and closed strong.

After the final bell:

Day 1 is shaping up nicely. Plenty of feuds and programs being worked toward.

The major title matches are pretty obvious, with the possible exception of Lashley.

To be determined? That goes to the US Title and Damien Priest.

The tag title contenders will be known next week. And even in a loss, I think Alpha Academy put a claim in to challenge Orton and Riddle.

Finn Balor versus Austin Theory is but a matter of when, not if.

Best RAW ever? Of course not.

But it was pretty good. As for the question, can Liv Morgan win the big one?

Not this week…but it sure is a lot more believable now, I think.
