Meghan Markle reportedly used the royal title that she got by marrying Prince Harry to lobby Republican Senators in the hopes of convincing them to support her leftwing agenda. Not one to miss a beat, Piers Morgan took to Twitter with a visceral reaction to the Duchess’ lobbying.

Senators Shocked To Receive Cold Call From Meghan Markle

Daily Mail reported that Meghan cold called Republican Senators Susan Collins from Maine and Shelley Moore Capito from West Virginia, each of whom said that she used her royal title to lobby them for paid parental leave.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) called this is just the beginning of the political activism that is being planned by Meghan, who she said is hoping to be part of “a working group to work on paid leave long term.”

Both Collins and Moore Capito were shocked to hear from Meghan.

Moore Capito said that when she got the call, she thought that it was going to be from Joe Manchin, the other senator from West Virginia who has been trying to get her to join his side when it comes to the infrastructure bill.

“I’m in my car. I’m driving. It says caller ID blocked. Honestly, I thought it was Senator Manchin, his calls come in blocked,” Moore Capito recalled to Politico. “And she goes ‘Sen. Capito?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ She said, ‘This is Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.'”

“I couldn’t figure out how she got my number,” Moore Capito added.

‘Ironic’ That Meghan Markle Used Royal Title To Lobby Senators

Collins found it ironic that Meghan Markle was trying to use her British royal title to lobby U.S. senators after she left the British Royal Family last year.

“Much to my surprise, she called me on my private line and introduced herself as the Duchess of Sussex, which is kind of ironic,” said Collins. “I was happy to talk with her, but I’m more interested in what people from Maine are telling me about paid leave.”

Collins later added to The New York Times, “She just weighed in that she thought paid leave was really important, and I told her there were a lot of different approaches, and people were working on it.”

Senator Gillibrand Sounds Off

Gillibrand admitted on Wednesday that she is the one who gave Megan Markle the Senators’ personal numbers.

“I talked to each of the women senators and let them know that she’s going to reach out, because she only completed two of the calls,’ Gillibrand said. “She’s going to call some others, so I let them know in advance.”

“She wants to be part of a working group to work on paid leave long term and she’s going to be,” Gillibrand added. “Whether this comes to fruition now or later, she’ll be part of a group of women that hopefully will work on paid leave together.”

Lobbying Creates Perfect Opp For Piers Morgan To Attack Meghan Markle, Again

Needless to say, this report that Meghan Markle leveraged her to royal status to actively lobby Senators did not sit well with her nemesis, Piers Morgan.

The fiery British television personality turned Daily Mail contributor sounded off on Twitter:

Morgan’s tweet was punctuated with a call to the Queen to intercede and stop the Sussexes’ constant political campaigning in its tracks.

Rumors have long swirled that Markle is hoping to enter a career in politics as a Democrat, and this certainly lends credence to those rumors.

As Collins said, however, it’s “ironic” that Meghan Markle is trying to use her British royal title to sway politicians on this side of the pond, especially after she was so quick to snub the British Royal Family.
