Meghan Markle first Royal to vote US election political activism

Meghan Markle just made history as the first member of the British Royal Family to vote in an American presidential election. In the wake of her vote, Meghan sent a brutal message to the Royal Family, defiantly saying that her political activism “won’t end after the U.S. election.”

Meghan Markle Makes History As First Royal To Vote In US Election

A source told Page Six that Meghan voted early by mail in this election.

And, she’s eagerly awaiting the results from the $14.5 million mansion in Montecito, California that she shares with her husband, Prince Harry, and their son, 1 year-old Archie.

“Meghan was an American long before she was a royal,” the source said. “She wouldn’t miss voting in this election no matter where she was living.”

Though Meghan has not confirmed who she voted for, it seems clear that she likely cast a vote for Joe Biden.

The former “Suits” actress has a history of being an outspoken critic of Donald Trump and of promoting liberal causes.

Meghan and Harry have spent the past few months getting involved in politics by making various public appearances in which they urged people to get involved and vote.

Many saw this as a direct violation of Queen Elizabeth’s longstanding rule that all members of the British royal family must stay out of politics and remain politically neutral at all times.

“As Head of State The Queen has to remain strictly neutral with respect to political matters,” reads a statement on the royal website.

Meghan Is Defiant About Her Political Activism

After she voted, however, Meghan made a point of letting the Royal Family know that this is only the beginning of her political activism.

Her spokesperson told Daily Mail that Meghan’s politics activism “won’t end after the US election” because she feels “encouraging people to get involved” is “important.”

In September, Meghan and Harry filmed a PSA for Time100 in which they talked about the importance of voting.

“When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard. Your voice is a reminder that you matter. Because you do,” Meghan said.

Meghan’s spokesperson defended these comments specifically saying that she should be allowed to talk about politics just like everybody else.

“Part of being an active member of society is to take part in the democratic process,” the spokesperson told Insider.

“So encouraging people to get involved in politics is something that is important. Obviously it is at a very important part of the American election cycle at the moment, but that doesn’t mean it’s specific to this time.”

Liberal Hollywood Actress Turned Duchess

Prior to her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle was a liberal Hollywood actress who enjoyed speaking out against Donald Trump in interviews.

Take a look:

While she has refrained from publicly taking a political side so far, we imagine that it will only be a matter of time before she openly returns to her radically liberal Hollywood roots.

It’s doubtful the Queen will be happy to hear about any of this.
