AEW To “Re-Invent” Jon Moxley, News On Miro’s Dynamite Appearance

As per a previous report, Jon Moxley is currently in an in-patient alcohol treatment plan. This places his storylines on hold, for the moment. However, word is that AEW had plans to “re-invent” Moxley, before his rehab admission.

AEW To “Re-Invent” Jon Moxley

According to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, Moxley was set for a “personality change” to his AEW gimmick. No further information was offered.

This could simply mean heel turn. However, it also could mean a new babyface persona for Jon.

While Moxley has never been a heel in AEW, gimmick changes and turns help to keep a character “fresh”. With that said, Jon’s tweener persona has been highly popular in both AEW and WWE.

AEW Planning On Turning Jon Moxley Heel?

If the idea was to turn him heel, it would be a big deal. Sadly, AEW fans will have to wait until he’s out of rehab to see what happens next.

Jon Moxley entered AEW in 2019. Since then, he’s become AEW World Champion with a decent reign.

Speaking of that World title, WNZ has more information on Miro’s AEW Dynamite appearance last night. Sounds like he cut it real close when arriving.

More On Miro’s Dynamite Appearance

It’s going to be Miro versus Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship Tournament finals. This is happening at the Full Gear pay-per-view (PPV).

Miro defeated Orange Cassidy on last night’s Dynamite. As noted above, he replaces Jon Moxley due to a rehab recovery.

According to Fightful Select, the company “cut it close” with Miro arriving on time. Wednesday’s show took place at Independence, Missouri’s Cable Dahmer Arena.

The final decision to have Miro take Moxley’s place was Tuesday afternoon. Tony Khan, AEW President, announced Jon’s treatment at midnight that night.

Miro Wasn’t Supposed To Be On Dynamite That Night

As per the report, Miro was not set to be at Dynamite. He hit the arena a bit after the show was on the air.

Miro was flown by AEW into Independence. He would work the match with Cassidy, shortly after he arrived.

The report states that Miro’s creative plans have changed quite a bit lately. Still, no word on exactly what those plans are.

Last night’s bout was the first for Miro in a while. The last time AEW fans saw him was on the September 29th episode of Dynamite.

He had a match with Sammy Guevara at this point. Miro dropped his AEW TNT Championship to the superstar.

After his title loss, the “Miro versus God” storyline rolled out. While it did pick up speed, it’s clear he’s moving on.

Sounds like the powers that be at AEW have chosen Miro to carry on and help with this storyline swerve, in Moxley’s absence. Will he rise to the occasion?

Miro became All Elite in 2020. During his tenure he’s been TNT Champion, but will he add AEW World Champion to his resume, too?

Miro’s now officially fighting Danielson at Full Gear. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next.
