“One Day At A Time” star Valerie Bertinelli shared an emotional video of her reaction to someone trolling her Instagram account with a comment about her weight. Upon seeing the Food Network host break down, Valerie Bertinelli’s son Wolf Van Halen jumped into action.

Unfortunately, in this case, 61-year-old Bertinelli made the “mistake” of reading the comments and seeing a brutal one from a keyboard warrior.
Valerie Bertinelli Told She Needs To Lose Weight
Once America’s darling in the late 70s and early 80s, Bertinelli was so affected by the comment that she replied in a video without any makeup and a swollen face indicating she had been crying.
The actress, host, and mom typically shares her recipes on Instagram. This particular mean spirited comment was in reply to a recipe from her cookbook.
“Someone … decided to point out that I needed to lose weight,” Valerie Bertinelli emotionally said.
“Because see, I don’t have a scale or I don’t have clothes that I’m trying to put on every day and I don’t have mirrors so I don’t see what’s become of me,” the actress sarcastically said. “So I needed that help to let me know that I need to lose weight.”
“You’re not being helpful,” Bertinelli added. “Because when you see somebody who has put some weight on, my first thought is, ‘That person is obviously going through some things.’”
Valerie Bertinelli has had a rough year.
In addition to dealing with the pandemic, like the rest of us, she is still reeling from the death of Eddie Van Halen. The pair were married over twenty-five years and remained on good terms in the years after their divorce.

Wolf Van Halen Defends His Mom
The comments were incredibly supportive of Bertinelli. The most poignant reply came from her son Wolf who came to her defense. The mother and son are incredibly close.
“You’re perfect the way you are, Ma. I love you ❤️ (also for no particular reason, what was that fucker’s @ so I can harass them with memes?),” he wrote in defense of his tear stricken mom.
