Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s battle with the Royal Family is getting the Lifetime treatment in a new movie. The portrayal of the Duke and Duchess is drawing laughs from viewers and even comparisons to a “Saturday Night Live” skit.

Harry & Meghan: Escaping The Palace is the third Lifetime movie based on the Sussexes.

Early viewers skewered the trailer describing the actors as “Z-listers” and the plot as “melodramatic”, “bloody ridiculous”, and “cringe”.

The movie appears to be an attempt at putting a positive spin on Megxit and the royal couple’s ongoing drama. It even recreates the couple’s ill timed and poorly received interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Lifetime’s Mockable Harry And Meghan Megxit Movie

Lifetime released a 30-second trailer in which Harry, played by Jordan Dean, says he “‘will do everything in his power to keep his wife and son safe.”

Meghan, played by Sydney Morton, laments she “made the world’s biggest mistake.”

The actors portraying Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Queen Elizabeth appear arrogant and cold hearted as they appear concerned about the state of the monarchy.

Kate’s character taunts Meghan’s alleged cries for help by saying, “This is the life we signed up for. Here, we value dignity above all else.”

Meghan’s character appears to be at odds with the portrayal of a demanding Queen. “I never thought this would be easy. But I wanted to make the Queen proud,” the Duchess of Sussex’s character whines.

The movie goes there by recreating the Royal exile’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. They slammed his family by accusing them of racism and mental anguish while Harry’s grandfather was hospitalized.

Prince Philip never recovered, dying a few weeks later.

Harry never got the chance to return to England in time to say goodbye.

Harry & Meghan: Escaping The Palace Movie Trailer

Lifetime describes the movie as depicting “what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie.”

The trailer gives the flavor that this movie might be a comedy. But, it is not.

While it is unlikely to win any Emmy nominations, it might be get some traction with viewers because it is unintentionally funny and mockable.

You can watch the trailer for Harry & Meghan: Escaping The Palace in Lifetime’s Instagram post below. The comment section is ripe with jeers like “Hahaha!! Its like a longform SNL skit.”

Buckingham Palace Will No Longer Be Silent

Ouch! The online comments are not favorable for the Lifetime original movie. Many called it “ridiculous” and compared it to a comedy show.

In the real life family feud, Harry and Meghan have apparently been warned that Buckingham Palace will no longer stay silent if more outrageous claims have been made. If that tactic works, this could end the drama.
