After repeatedly saying it was not the right time for children, John Cena now seems ready to be a dad. Also, WWE superstar Mercedes Martinez did suffer a concussion on Tuesday’s episode of NXT.

John Cena Ready To Be A Dad

Being a WWE wrestler means traveling on the road about 300 days a year. For the biggest stars, they are home even less.

John Cena was and remains one of the biggest superstars for the company. Because of his hectic schedule, he always made a point to avoid having children.

Now, Cena seems to have changed his mind. While speaking to The U.S. Sun, the 44 year old seemed very open to having a child.

“I’m a little bit older, a bit wiser,” said Cena. “I’m realizing there is life and life exists and it’s beautiful. And, I think part of that is being a parent, so we’ll see.”

Cena met his current wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, in 2019 while he was filming Playing With Fire in Vancouver. They were married in October 2020 with few people knowing.

John Cena And His Past Engagement To Nikki Bella

Of course, Cena famously dated Nikki Bella from 2012 until April 2018. WWE even did an angle with The Miz & Maryse.

The culmination saw Cena & Nikki defeat The Miz & Maryse at WrestleMania. Then, in a first for the event, Cena proposed.

With the wedding getting closer, Cena and Nikki broke up. Since then, both had nothing but positive things to say about their ex.

Oddly enough, they split because Cena did not want to have children with his schedule. Later, Nikki got engaged to her Dancing With The Stars partner Artem Chigvintsev and they have a baby boy.

As for news that Cena is open to starting a family, a source close to HollywoodLife said Nikki is happy for Cena.

The source added, “No matter what decisions John makes, that is his and Shay’s business. Nikki is happy for him and wishes him all the best, she’s happy living her own life.”

After not being seen since WrestleMania 36, Cena is expected back soon as fans are returning this month. Look for Cena vs. Universal champion Roman Reigns to headline August’s SummerSlam.

Tuesday’s episode of NXT saw a scary moment as Xia Li delivered a roundhouse kick that knocked out Mercedes Martinez. The referee moved fast and quickly stopped the match.

As a precaution, Martinez was immediately sent to the hospital to be evaluated. Now, during the Wrestling Observer Radio, they noted how Martinez did sufferer a concussion.

It was noted that Martinez was doing better by the next morning and is no longer hospitalized.

Therefore, she has not medically cleared to compete. A big issue with concussions is there is no timetable for a return.

For now, it is rest for Martinez until she can pass WWE’s medical tests. Hopefully, she makes a full recovery sooner than later.
