From Rags To Riches: Where John Cena Started Out

Former WWE wrestler John Cena recently revealed he was homeless before he became a famous celebrity. Looking at his success now, it is almost difficult to imagine.

During an interview with The Sun, John Cena revealed how he made it from rags to riches. He even recalled how tough he had it at one point.

In fact, John Cena had to sleep in his car for a while. He didn’t make enough money to pay the bills and get a place of his own.

“I slept in my car for a while, which happened to be a very roomy 1991 Lincoln Town Car. I had my clothes in the trunk and I slept in the back seat.”

Cena tried to make it as a pro wrestler at the time. While he worked at a local gym, there just wasn’t enough money to go around.

However, Cena found a way to keep going and make the most of the resources available to him.

“I’d wake up, use the locker rooms and the shower and repeat the process all over again.”

Cena also revealed that his father was not onboard with him moving to Los Angeles in 1999. In fact, his father believed he would never make it.

“Dad told me I would be home with my tail between my legs in two weeks. Sure enough, I went through my resources quickly and had to think on my feet. I didn’t want to go home crying.”

Cena persisted and went on to become one of the biggest pro wrestlers the world has ever seen. And as a fact, he got to that position due to his hard work ethic.

John Cena stepped back from pro wrestling a few years back. But, he has yet to officially retire from the business.

Recently, Cena hinted at an impending WWE return. And there is a rumor that Cena could be facing Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.

Whether the rumors about the return are accurate or not, Cena is certainly busy. Over the years, he starred in a number of blockbuster films. 

Cena In Hollywood

Most recently, he starred in the latest Fast and Furious installment. Apart from that, he also found himself in movies such as Trainwreck and Bumblebee. 

Cena also has another major project in the pipeline. It has been revealed that John Cena will star alongside Idris Elba and Margot Robbie in The Suicide Squad.

Interestingly, Batista was originally pegged for the role. However, Batista decided to go for another movie instead.

Cena is doing great in Hollywood and seems to be following in the footsteps of The Rock.

Of course, this is ironic considering the scathing promo he did on The Rock many years ago.

But Cena’s star status certainly proves something else.

It shows that pro wrestling can be an amazing platform to mainstream celebrity status. 

For now, Cena shows no signs of stopping.

And his story from rags to riches is certainly an inspirational one.
