There was a surprise WWE return on SmackDown as Edge took out Roman Reigns and here are latest details. Also, before the latest releases, Diamond Mine had different members.

Edge Surprise WWE Return Details

Basically, fans thought Edge was returning to WWE in preparation for the return of live fans. Then, WWE tossed a curveball, having Edge return on SmackDown.

So, yea, Friday’s SmackDown conclusion left fans shocked.

They closed out SmackDown, with Edge once again portraying the face. Now, we know Edge vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns is official for Money in the Bank (MITB).

Well, Edge’s return to TV was not a last minute decision. Apparently, this has been in the works for a while and it was a major surprise for fans.

After MITB, Edge is scheduled to stick around for SummerSlam. While not confirmed, a first time ever meeting against Seth Rollins is the likely candidate.

So, if Edge wins the Universe Championship, the rumored SummerSlam match becomes for the title. Some believe Rollins will cost Edge the belt, setting-up their SummerSlam bout.

As for Reigns, he is still likely to face a returning John Cena at SummerSlam. Reigns won their first and only match several years back.

Fans have not seen Edge since WrestleMania 37. He lost in the main event of night two, to Reigns; in a match that also featured Daniel Bryan.

Edge returning against Reigns makes sense. Reigns lacks opponents on SmackDown and Edge did earn a title shot by winning the Royal Rumble, but then Bryan got involved.

As for Edge’s contract, he re-signed with WWE after almost ten years away because of an injury. While not confirmed, there has been talk that WWE and Edge restructured the deal for more appearances.

And of course, WWE is seeking to return to Saudi Arabia this year. Therefore, Edge is someone that would likely appear.

Diamond Mine Plans Changed

For what felt like months, NXT was promoting the Diamond Mine. Unfortunately, there were few details provided about what to expect.

So, that brings us to Tuesday’s NXT episode, where the group was promoted to debut and they did so by closing the show. They set their intentions on Cruiserweight Champion Kushida.

Possible leader Roderick Strong, Tyler Rust and Hideki Suzuki, with Malcolm Bivens as their manager, are in the stable. Still, that was not the original members of group.

Fightful Select repots Arturo Ruas and Marina Shafir were to join. Then, both were released only days ago as late changes were made.

The report continued Ruas was “informed a few days ahead of time that plans had changed for him.” Marina Shafir, who is Strong’s wife, was to debut with the stable at a later date as a “female enforcer.”

We will have to see what the future holds for the new stable, Diamond Mine. Clearly, WWE plans changed quickly.
