Amazon Driver Caught On Video Beating Elderly Woman Charged With Elder Abuse

A 21-year-old Amazon delivery driver in California was arrested after video of her assaulting a 67-year-old woman went viral.

The Amazon employee was delivering a package to the elderly victim. 

Amazon Driver Lectures Woman On “White Privilege” Before Assault

Amazon employee Itzel Ramirez reportedly berated the victim about her “white privilege” before beginning the beat down.

A witness to the savage beating spoke to local Fox news affiliate KVTU.

Building owner Doug Smith told KVTU, “I believe the Amazon driver said something about ‘your white privilege,’ and my tenant said, ‘You don’t need to be a bitch about it,’ turned around and walked away.”

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Ramirez hit the senior citizen in the head 10 times. And, she even pinned her against the building so the victim could not easily escape the attack.

The Sheriff stated the victim has visible injuries and perhaps sustained a broken nose.

The driver is claiming self defense.

However, the video doesn’t show the victim harming Ramirez. The victim reportedly called the Amazon employee a bitch but did physically go after her. 

The Amazon employee has been charged with two counts of elder abuse and battery involving serious bodily injury.

Video Of Amazon Driver’s Brutal Beatdown Goes Viral

Here’s how it started.

The 67-year-old woman got an Amazon alert that her package had arrived.

When she went to the lobby the package wasn’t there. So, she questioned the Amazon delivery driver about it.

This led to a verbal confrontation. 

The Amazon delivery person began accusing the woman of having “white privilege.”

Then, the brutal beatdown from Ramirez kicked off. Ramirez looks to be more than 45 years younger.

As you can see, the driver is clearly wearing her Amazon vest as she is striking the elderly woman’s head and body.

Amazon must be scrambling in the wake of this video footage showing their employee assaulting a customer. 

PR Crisis On Their Hands

In addition to a potential lawsuit, Amazon has a massive public relations problem from this assault and accompanying video. There has been a violation of that trust.

With so many people getting packages from Amazon, it’s important to feel confident in who is showing up to your home.

Nobody is expecting to get a beating along with their Amazon package.

“It was frightening to see an Amazon driver do that, somebody who we allow onto the property to provide us a service,” Doug Smith, owner of the apartment building where the attack took place, said. 

Now the online shopping giant is attempting to diffuse the matter and retain credibility. 

“This does not reflect the high standards we have for drivers who deliver our packages. We take these matters seriously and this individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages,” Amazon said in a statement about the assault.
