Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on Sunday that they had welcomed their second child, a baby girl whom they named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. She was born on Friday, June 4th.

While well wishes poured in for the couple from all over the globe, the happy news did not stop their old nemesis Piers Morgan from having some fun at their expense.
“To those asking for my reaction to the new royal baby, I am respecting her parents’ constant pleas for privacy and declining to comment,” Morgan tweeted after news of the birth broke.
He was referring to the fact that Meghan and Harry have continuously claimed they want privacy since leaving the royal family, yet they also keep resurfacing to give tell-all interviews about the royal family whenever the world seems to be forgetting about them for even a moment.

On Monday morning, Morgan gave an interview in which he pointed out how “ironic” it is that Meghan and Harry chose to name their daughter after the Queen.
Lilibet is a nickname the 95-year-old monarch has had since she was a small child.
“It’s quite ironic, isn’t it,” Morgan said. “You have this couple who have been trashing the royal family and the monarchy for the last few weeks and they have named the baby after the Queen, who is, of course, the head of the royal family and the monarchy.”
Morgan went on to say that Meghan and Harry may be trying to get themselves back in the Queen’s good graces by naming their daughter after her.
“Maybe it’s their way of reaching out — as the Americans say — to the royals and wanting some kind of end to this on-running feud,” he continued.

He did offer some support to the couple, saying, “I always think when a new baby is born – I’ve had four myself – it’s churlish to put any negative slant. At such a moment. I wish them all the very best. There is four in the family now. I wish them every success and a long and happy life.”
After the birth was announced, the palace released a statement saying that the Queen and the rest of the royal family were “delighted” by the news.
“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” the statement read, according to Insider.
Lilibet has certainly been born into a very interesting situation when it comes to her parents’ relationship with the rest of the royal family.
In fact, she was born all the way across the world from the rest of the royals, coming into this world in Santa Barbara, California.
Moving forward, it will be interesting if Lilibet’s life ends up being more like that of a British royal, or that of a wealthy southern California girl.
Only time will tell.
