Daniel Bryan is off SmackDown, but he might have bigger problems as he recently wrecked his neck. Also, AEW’s Blood & Guts participants have some legit heat.

Daniel Bryan “Wrecked” His Neck

On SmackDown, Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns met for the Universal Championship. For Bryan, the stakes were high as he would be banished from the brand if he lost.

And, that is exactly what happened Friday night. Now, Bryan needs a new brand, which leaves RAW and NXT as the likely options.

While speaking to TV Live, Bryan revealed that he “wrecked” his neck in a recent tag team match. That occurred when he teamed with Cesaro against Seth Rollins & Jey Uso.

“I had a tag team match on SmackDown last Friday and it was a lot of fun, but my neck was just wrecked,” said Bryan.

Of course, Bryan has a history of neck and back problems. Also, the same can be said for concussions, which was one of the reasons he initially had to retire.

There has been talk of Bryan’s WWE contract expiring soon, which could be why WWE ran the recent angle. Bryan has publicly stated he would like to wrestle for other companies and is nearing the end of being a full-time wrestler.

Instead, he wants to focus on his family. He is married to Brie Bella and they have two children together.

This week, AEW will debut their latest gimmick match called Blood & Guts. The match sees The Inner Circle take on The Pinnacle.

10 wrestles will be locked inside a cage with a roof. From earlier shots, it looks similar to WWE’s Hell in a Cell, but with two rings.

Heading into the bout, there is some heat. While speaking to Wrestle Talk, Shawn Spears noted how some wrestlers involved legitimately do not like each other.

“Sometimes in wrestling, you’re going to meet guys and work with guys that you just don’t get along with,” said Spears. “No matter what, you don’t see eye-to-eye.”

“That’s something that’s just not going to change and it is what it is. Professionalism takes precedence, but sometimes guys just don’t like each other.”

“I’m not going to name any names, I’m not going to say anything more other than there are guys in this match on May 5 that legitimately don’t like each other. You throw that into an already combustible element of Blood & Guts, in a match already tailor-made for violence so to speak, and anything can happen.”

Change From Early Blood & Guts Idea

Originally, Blood & Guts was set for march 2020. Although, that was when COVID starting becoming a major problem and the show was scratched.

That would have seen The Elite & Matt Hardy take on The Inner Circle. At the time, The Inner Circle were the heels before switching things up a few months ago.

As of now, four other matches are booked for Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. With all the hype, AEW is hopefully looking to secure another one million viewers for the episode.
