SmackDown In A Nutshell: Final Fight For Fastlane

It’s our last SmackDown In A Nutshell prior to Fastlane, and that means we have a final fight for Fastlane.

Yep, it’s the “go-home” show, as it were. Not that the crew is going anywhere, Thunderdome and all.

So, the major attraction on SmackDown this week? That would be the match to determine the guest enforcer on Sunday.

Jey Uso and Edge fight for that…honor? Jey wants to keep Roman Reigns happy, where Edge…doesn’t seem to want to face Daniel Bryan, I guess.

No, that isn’t the only match of the night-just the biggest, and the probable main event. Also, it’s the match with perhaps the biggest implications, as far as Sunday (and beyond) is concerned.

So, we have a pretty important SmackDown In A Nutshell in front of us, if I do say so myself. It’s a big final fight for Fastlane and so much more.

What else is there to say? Not much, honestly…so it has to be time for…

SmackDown In A Nutshell: Final Fight For Fastlane

Let’s crack open this Nutshell and find out!

Best Match of the night:

For me, I’d go with that final fight for Fastlane-Edge and Jey Uso.

But I wouldn’t be upset in the slightest if you felt we had other options tonight.

Worst match of the night:

Sure, they want to tease tension between Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler…but I really am tired and over the idea of the “tag team teammates fighting 2 singles matches” schtick.

That seems to be WWE’s new thing. Not a fan.

Yes, even if one just happened to be for the SmackDown title.

But for real…King Corbin and Sami Zayn. Even WWE fessed up that no one wanted the match.

Star of the Night

I almost don’t want to give this out. We had several strong performances.

Bryan, Reigns, Edge, Jey Uso and Paul Heyman even…they all deserve credit.

I’d presume Reigns wins Sunday,  but they are doing enough to make me feel as though Bryan could do it…all while still building toward WrestleMania.

Spot of the Night:

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

That Helluva kick was a nice looking spot. In real time…yeah, I was saying this.

LOL Moment of the night:

Noteworthy Moment:

We had a few tonight, but the one I am going to drop here would be our announced hosts for WrestleMania.

Hulk Hogan and Titus O’Neill.

Nothing against either…but honestly neither moves the needle in either direction.

With the event being in Tampa, I would have thought maybe WWE revives the Gronk-as-a-Host thing…

Overall lowlights:

No matter what, I just cannot get into Tamina as a serious threat in the ring anymore.

If I had one other remark about the show as a whole…it seemed almost too busy. Like it was trying to do too much, and some of it may not really matter to Fastlane.

Worth noting that, while this one was the final fight for Fastlane…it was also up against the first opening round games for a certain madness filled March event.

Overall highlights:

We’ve said it before, so we will say it again…all those involved in building up both Sunday’s Fastlane match and anything relevant to that?

They’ve been excellent.

Like, I would pick on WWE…a lot…about making a one on one into a triple threat. Yet, I could absolutely see the Reigns/Edge party making room for one more…and I am OK with that.

After the final bell:

That felt like a really busy SmackDown In A Nutshell. A lot to unpack, to be honest.

I have to give credit to some other items too-really liking Big E and Apollo, but didn’t drop them anywhere else.

Also, Shinsuke and Seth Rollins, made official for Sunday? Yes please!

Overall, a busy yet satisfying final fight for Fastlane. How’s that for a go-home SmackDown in a Nutshell!
