Tony Khan Begs The WWE To Work With His Promotion In Jacksonville

AEW owner Tony Khan begged the WWE this week to work with his promotion in Jacksonville. Once again, the smart businessman is showing he believes strongly in cooperation between wrestling brands.

But will the WWE bite?

Why Would Tony Khan Want To Work With The WWE?

Tony Khan is a smart businessman. And the businessman showed his open mind once more by inviting WWE to work with his promotion in Jacksonville.

During a podcast, Khan was asked if he was willing to work with the WWE. And his answer was quite surprising!

“As I’ve said before, the forbidden door is open anytime. Just come and knock. If they were to knock on the door, I would certainly be willing to let them in.”

Khan was also asked if cooperation could be similar to D-Generation X showing up on WCW. But this is not the vision of the AEW owner.

“I don’t think so. Eric [Bischoff] wanted them [WWE] to come inside, so I’m willing to do the same. Come in, please. I would love that. Come to Jacksonville, I’m begging you.”

However, the promotion has been quite strict recently in terms of working with external parties.

Even the WWE’s own wrestlers have felt the sting of company branding. They are no longer allowed to promote third party brands or charities, unless the WWE gets a big cut of course!

The chances are slim that the WWE will work with AEW. However, if the promotion were to enter a true danger zone in terms of fans and viewers, I would not rule it out in the future.

How Tony Khan Sees Other Promotions

Everyone knows that Tony Khan loves cooperation and collaboration. In fact, he is currently appearing on Impact Wrestling himself after Kenny Omega took the title to the promotion.

Khan’s willingness to share has also benefited other promotions recently, with Impact being the most obvious.

Tony also talked about how he sees other promotions in the grand scheme of things.

Once again, Tony Khan had quite the interesting reply that stands in stark contrast with the viewpoint of WWE chairman Vince McMahon.

“The biggest thing in relationships for me is I treat people really well, and I’m very honest with them,” he said. “That’s why people like to work here, whether its AEW or the Jaguars. I do think that sets us apart from other wrestling companies. But in dealing with other companies, I try to treat them the same way as I treat my own [employees].”

Based on statements of wrestlers and Tony Khan himself, the culture between the WWE and AEW is very different. In fact, Kenny Omega famously said that he did not work for the WWE because of its “fear culture.”

The way Tony Khan does business will benefit his profit margin in the long run.

But the question remains if Vince McMahon can be convinced to play nice with others and give cooperation with AEW a chance.
