Morgan Wallen speaks directly to fans and the public in an Instagram video apologizing for his use of a racial slur. His Nashville neighbor’s doorbell camera filmed him returning home from what we now know was a 72-hour bender.
The Country star apologizes and accepts full responsibility for his actions.
In the five-minute video, Wallen doesn’t downplay his words. Instead he explains how he wants to learn from them.

“The video you saw of me was me on hour 72 of 72 of a bender and that’s not something I’m proud of either,” he tells Instagram followers in the video.
He continues: “I let so many people down… I’m not OK with that… I also accepted some invitations from some amazing Black organizations, executives, and leaders to engage in some real and honest conversations.”
Morgan Wallen has had a tough week. He was suspended by his record label and dropped by his agency after the video became widespread. He even was disqualified for the American Country Music Awards.
He is grateful to those Black organizations that are offering him a hand and the opportunity to use this as a teaching experience rather than kicking him while he is down.
“My words matter and that word can truly hurt a person,” Morgan Wallen continued. “And at my core, that’s not what I’m OK with. I’ve got many more things to learn but I already know that I don’t want to add to any division. Our actions matter, our words matter, and I just want to encourage anyone watching to please learn from my mistakes. There is no reason to downplay what I did. It matters.”
The Country star is also asking fans to stop defending him.
He is taking full responsibility and feels his use of the racial slur is indefensible.

“Lastly, I have one favor to ask. I appreciate those who still see something in me and have defended me,” Wallen says in his Instagram apology video below.
“But for today, please don’t. I was wrong. It’s on me. I take ownership for this and I fully accept any penalties I’m facing.”
He also lets fans know that since the video of him saying the N-word was taken nine days ago he’s been sober. And, adds:
“It’s not that long of a time, but it’s long enough to know the man in that video is not the man I’m trying to be.”
Morgan Wallen’s fans have flocked to iTunes to download his music in a show of support.
The blowback was immediate and fierce as Wallen kept getting canceled and shut out.
But, his fans recognize that people make mistakes and we can all learn from them.
