Matt Riddle Signed New WWE Contract, In Spite Of Leaving Rumors

There were some rumors that Matt Riddle was not going to sign a new WWE contract. However, now it seems Riddle has signed a new WWE contract after all.

Three Year Contract With WWE

Matt Riddle allegedly signed a three year WWE contract. If the rumors are correct, then the wrestler will be getting $400,000 for a year at a minimum.

Riddle will also get a nice deal for any shows he works in Saudi Arabia. According to the latest rumors, Matt will also get $50,000 for every show he does in Saudi.

The news of the latest contract was revealed by popular website Fightful Select. According to the site, the contract details have been verified by the appropriate sources.

While some sites claims that Riddle has signed already, we did not find any official confirmation of this. However, if Riddle did sign, we expect him to make an announcement on his social media.

Why Did Matt Riddle Avoid A New Contract

Matt Riddle received an initial offer from the WWE. At the time, the wrestler refused the deal.

Rumors went around that Matt had no interest in renewing with the WWE. It was unknown whether this had to do with the contract deal itself.

Riddle’s original contract was set to expire in August of 2021. So, Riddle did not need the new contract signing immediately, it was more of a case of the WWE trying to lock him in for another couple of years.

But if Riddle did sign, it means the WWE is keen on keeping him there. It also means that Riddle could be playing a bigger role in the WWE in the years to come.

Praise From Hulk Hogan

Riddle did not only catch the attention of the WWE brass. In fact, he also caught the attention of WWE veterans, including the Hulkster.

In a recent sports talk with Alex McCarthy and Matty Paddock, Hulk Hogan had loads of praise for Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre.

When asked about Riddle, Hulk Hogan said:

“I’ve been watching him and he’s really got good instincts. He’s really got a good aptitude for understanding what needs to be done…. he would be the next one I’d put my money on.”

If Hulk Hogan is correct, then Matt Riddle is a future Hall of Famer. Unfortunately, the wrestler is still surrounded by some controversy since the #SpeakingOut movement.

While the rumors surrounding Riddle have been dispelled for the most part, he is still dealing with the shadow of accusation. However, the new contract is showing that the WWE does have trust in the former UFC fighter.

While Riddle is quite great at the moment, I do wonder if his gimmick can stand the test of time overall? Riddle is quite a fan attraction, but can his current character stand the next decade of pro wrestling?

I guess we will have to see if Riddle can evolve with the wrestling universe or not. After all, this is what separates a good wrestler from a true legend.
