Lori Loughlin Gets Bad News: There’s A Massive COVID Outbreak At Her Prison

Things just got a whole lot worse for former “Fuller House” actress Lori Loughlin, as the California facility where she is currently serving a two-month prison sentence for her role in the college admissions scandal has been hit with a massive COVID-19 outbreak.

The former Hallmark star was sentenced in October after finally pleading guilty to paying $500,000 in bribe money for her two daughters’ admission to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team despite neither having ever rowed before.

On October 30, Loughlin reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California to serve her prison sentence.

COVID-19 Hits Lori Loughlin’s California Prison

Mercury News reported that in the days since Loughlin’s sentence began, the California prison facility housing her has been hit with an outbreak of COVID-19 that has infected “numerous” inmates.

Lawyers and prison advocates are sounding the alarm. They say that the prison’s conditions have become “dangerous” since the outbreak began, calling the facility overcrowded.

They’ve gone so far as to say that conditions in the California prison have become “legally questionable.”

Loughlin has reportedly been placed in quarantine. Sources say the celebrity is being housed in a storage building that has been converted into a makeshift isolation unit.

Prison consultant Holli Coulman, a former inmate herself, said that although the converted storage building has showers and toilets, it does NOT have heat or hot water.

There, Loughlin and her fellow inmates must sleep on mats on a cold concrete floor. This is assuredly very different from the sleeping arrangements to which actress the actress is accustomed at her Hollywood mansion.

‘The Human Rights Violations Are Off The Charts’

Coulman also aid that if any of the fifty female inmates in the building test positive for coronavirus, they will not be given any medication to help with their symptoms.

Instead, the prison is only giving treatment to inmates once their condition becomes life-threatening.

“The human rights violations are off the charts for taking inmates from the current environment that’s bad and putting them into these makeshift areas, which are worse,” said Coulman. “They wouldn’t pass any type of inspection, and the (U.S. Bureau of Prisons) knows that.”

As of last Friday, out of the 325 inmates tested, eleven inmates and six staff members had tested positive for COVID-19 and recovered, according to Bureau of Prisons spokesperson Justin Long.

Coulman added that she has been told that Loughlin is doing “OK” at this time. She went on to add that the actress has been given three phone calls since beginning her prison sentence.

Lori Loughlin Is ‘Struggling’ Right Now

While she may not have COVID-19 yet, a source close to Loughlin recently said that she’s been “struggling” in the few weeks since entering prison.

“Lori is trying to keep her head low and just get through this ordeal,” the insider told In Touch Magazine.

They also said that while “she’s been able to make calls and send emails, all monitored … every second feels like a lifetime in there.”

“Lori is living a real-life nightmare. Lori is hating life inside prison,” the source added. “Her first days there were dreadful.”

Loughlin had until November 19 to begin her sentence, but she decided to start early so that she could be out by New Year’s and start 2021 with a clean slate.

After this COVID-19 outbreak at her prison, however, Lori Loughlin may finally be regretting her role in the college admissions scandal.
