Lori Loughlin prison sentence FCI Dublin daughters college admissions scandal

It’s been less than a week since former “Fuller House” actress Lori Loughlin began her two month prison sentence for her role in the college admissions scandal, but sources close to the star say that she is already not handling life behind bars well.

Lori Loughlin Struggling In Prison

Loughlin had until November 19 to begin her prison sentence.

So it came as somewhat of a surprise last Friday when she surrendered to the Federal Corrections Institution, Dublin in California to begin serving her sentence early.

FCI Dublin is the same Federal institution where fellow defendant and “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman also served her prison sentence in the college admissions scandal.

Source close to Loughlin explained that the former Hallmark “When Calls The Heart” star surrendered early in the hopes of being out by Christmas.

But, at the very least, the mom of two wants to definitely be free by New Year’s so that she can start 2021 with a clean slate.

Though she started off her sentence with a positive attitude, a source close to Loughlin said that things have quickly gone downhill for her mentally.

“Lori really went into prison strong, she had her faith and the support of her family, but the first few days and road ahead are daunting,” the source told US Weekly.

Multiple sources are reporting that Loughlin’s daughters, Olivia Jade and Bella, are “distraught”.

The two are not coping well with their mom being in prison. Especially since COVID restrictions impact their ability to visit Loughlin.

Lori Loughlin Is A ‘Wreck’

Another insider went so far as to say that Loughlin is a “wreck” just days into her sentence.

“Lori tried her best to be brave and look at the end result but there was nothing that could dissipate her fears,” the source explained.

“It’s only two months but she’s dreading it. Her mind keeps telling her that something will go horribly wrong in prison or that her stay could be prolonged.”

She Breaks Down During Sentencing

Loughlin is in prison after pleading guilty to fraud charges.

Federal prosecutors accused her and husband Mossimo Giannulli paid $500,000 in bribe money to have their two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team. Despite neither of their daughter having every rowed crew before.

When a judge accepted her plea deal back in August, Loughlin became emotional while addressing the court.

“I went along will the plan to give my daughters an unfair advantage in the college admissions process,” Loughlin said. “

In doing so, ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass. I thought I was acting out of love for my children, but in reality, I had only undermined and diminished my daughters’ abilities and accomplishments.”

“While I wish I could go back and do things differently, I can only take responsibility and move forward,” she added.

“I have great faith in God and I believe in redemption and I will do everything in my power to redeem myself and use this experience as a catalyst to do good and give back for the rest of my life.”

Lori Loughlin Isn’t Getting Special Treatment In Prison

Yahoo News reported that prison officials have said that Loughlin is not being given any special treatment due to her celebrity status.

This means that she is currently in quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. And the “Fuller House” actress will remain in that state for the first fourteen days of her sentence.

Assuming that she continues to test negative for COVID-19, Loughlin will then be transferred to the prison’s general population.

Not being able to see or talk to anyone while behind bars is making Lori Loughlin’s prison time even more difficult.

Perhaps she should have thought about that before trying to cheat the system and bribe her daughters’ way into an elite college.
