Trebek had been fighting pancreatic cancer which he announced he had in March 2019.

Against all odds, the game show host continued filming new episodes of “Jeopardy” as he sought treatment for the advanced disease. Trebek’s last show was filmed on October 29th, just a few days before his death.

We’ll get a special gift this Christmas as Trebek’s final episode of him hosting Jeopardy! will air on Christmas Day.

Petition For LeVar Burton To Host “Jeopardy”

LeVar Burton

More than 13,000 people have signed a petition for LeVar Burton to step up to the podium and pick up where Alex left off.

It’s getting a lot of attention since Burton is also a beloved celebrity with a following. He hosted “Reading Rainbow” for 21 years.  In addition, he was on “Star Trek” and on a number of other shows.

“Between hosting 21 seasons of the educational Reading Rainbow, playing the brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: the Next Generation, and filling the roll of Kunta Kinte in the ever important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds,” the petition reads.

“This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producer Harry Friedman just how much love the public has for Burton, and how much we’d all love to see him as the next host of Jeopardy!”

Obviously, no one can take the place of Alex Trebek as Jeopardy! host but, the show must go on – Alex would want it that way.
