Alex Trebek Children Father's Day tribute game show cancer

Alex Trebek is known to millions of fans for hosting the game show “Jeopardy!” But to his three children, Trebek is just known for being an amazing dad. Now, the trio are opening up about the legendary host to let fans know just how great of a dad he really is.

Alex Trebek’s Three Children Share Favorite Memories Of Him

Trebek’s wife Jean penned a blog post this week in which she recounted a meal she had with their two children – Matthew and Emily – as well as the “Jeopardy!” host’s daughter Nicky from his previous marriage.

During the family meal, Jean asked all three of them to share their favorite memories of their 79 year-old father. And their responses were nothing short of heartwarming.

“My favorite memory would be all of the times we spent at our Lake House in Paso Robles,” Emily said. “My dad would be on the jet ski and would take us for rides in the innertube.”

Matthew said that his favorite memory was when his father gave him a cross “that he wore when he was a young man, and although I’m not religious, it meant a lot to me.”

Nicky, who has spent years working with her father on “Jeopardy!,” told Jean that Trebek is “really good at his profession. The best in the business. People don’t really understand what it takes to do what he does.”

Trebek Children Double Down

Emily agreed, explaining that Trebek will “be over within the hour” whenever she has an issue in her home. When asked about Trebek’s best personality trait, his three children gushed about his “determination,” “persistence” and “generosity.”

“I personally experienced him writing hundreds of thousands of thank you notes while he battled for his life,” Nicky said of his battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. “It’s truly astounding. I honestly can’t even put it into words.”

“It feels to me like our little family was meant to be,” Jean wrote. “The stars all were aligned to bring together such unique personalities which deeply support and respect each other. What’s interesting for me to witness, is that they each have had their own unique experiences with Alex and that really reflects back different perspectives on the man I married.”

Dad’s Cancer Milestone

This outpouring of love from Alex Trebek’s children comes just three months after their dad celebrated the one year milestone of his cancer diagnosis.

On that day Trebek told fans, “The one-year survival rate for stage 4 pancreatic cancer patients is 18 percent. I’m very happy to report I have just reached that marker.”

Trebek has said that he is “looking forward” to resuming filming of “Jeopardy!” once the coronavirus hiatus is complete. And he has also made it known that he has no plans to retire anytime soon.

I can’t imagine a world where the iconic trivia show has another host, so I for one hope to see Alex Trebek hosting for many years to come!
