Derrick Jill Duggar Dillard Jim Bob Michelle Duggar Counting On TLC family rift reality TV

Jill Duggar Dillard is not on good terms with her famous family. The former “Counting On” star has distanced herself from her extraordinarily large family. Jill doesn’t expect a reunion soon, but she is asking for prayers that a solution can be found.

She made this announcement on a YouTube question and answer video.

Jill and her husband Derrick answered fan questions in an honest fashion, surprising many people when she mentioned the family rift.

The Duggars are known for having a very tight knit bond. Jill’s revelation goes against the family brand.

Jill Duggar Dillard Isn’t As Strict As Her Family

While the Dillards are religious, they aren’t as strict as Jill’s well known parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.

Jill wears pants and previously admitted to using birth control. The couple is also not homeschooling their children.

Why Jill Duggar Dillard Left TLC’s “Counting On”

The first couple fan questions centered around the couple’s departure from TLC’s “Counting On.”

While the public was led to believe this was caused by Derrick’s comments about Jazz Jennings, TLC’s transgendered reality star, the Dillards hinted there were other motives.

“We left the show three years ago because basically, our family goals that we had for ourselves didn’t align with what we found out,” Jill said. “We ended up finding out that we didn’t have as much control over our lives as it related to the show and stuff as we felt like we needed. We had to make a decision at that time to kind of put the show aside just to pursue our own goals.”

? Happy Anniversary my love @derickdillard ❤️ These last 6 years have been quite the ride but I’m so grateful to have you always by my side. (see what I did there? lol) ? . . ?We celebrated yesterday (a day early) with a date to the place where we got engaged! We had dinner @tablemesabistro just like we did before we got engaged, then we walked over to @kyyachocolate for some delicious chocolate and then to our bench (not really ours lol) on the Bentonville square where Derick popped the question a little over 6 years ago. ☺️ After a little while we went to @andysfrozencustard for dessert.? . . ?After celebrating Father’s Day today with family, Derick was busy working on assignments for a summer class, so I got the boys down early and surprised him with @dominos delivered for dinner. ? . . ?Fun facts: @dominos pizza was the first meal we had as husband and wife! + pizza and wings & @fanta (different restaurants tho) were common date foods for us while in language school in Guatemala. ? . . ?Do you have some anniversary/early relationship sentimental foods, places or traditions? ⬇️ Comment below.

Leaving “Counting On” Gave Them Their Lives Back

Jill went onto to describe that leaving the show allowed them to get their lives back. It was something they needed to do for their growing family.

This is a couple who are not going to allow others to tell them what to do.

“We will not go back on the show under the circumstances that we were under at the time that we left,” Derrick added. “Meaning just as a family, we have to be able to make decisions that allow us to navigate our lives and have the information and control so that we know whether or not we can even plan anything.”

Duggar Family Rift Comes To Light

Things get interesting three minutes into the video. That’s when the Duggar family rift begins to show.

The couple is asked if they are at “Counting On” filming events or are edited out.  Derrick confirmed that they are intentionally not shown.

“We’ve been at wedding and funerals,” Derrick said. “I guess if we aren’t shown, it’s because we are edited out.”

The Dillards were very honest when answering these fan questions. Apparently they feel as though they don’t have anything to hide.

The next question asked if they are distanced from Jill’s family.

While many of us are distanced from our families because of the pandemic, this is not the case.

Jill Duggar Dillard Asks For Prayers

“There’s been some distancing there,” the 29-year-old mother surprisingly says. “We’re not on the best terms with some of my family. We’ve had some disagreements, but we’re working towards healing definitely and restoration, but we’re having to kind of just take some time and heal.”

She did not go into detail. But, she did say things are difficult and they would appreciate prayers to help them heal.

“We’re doing what’s best for our family right now and just working through it, I guess,” Jill says in the video below. “We are praying and trusting God that like the timeline is his and what that looks like and everything. So we definitely appreciate your prayers, and we don’t want to go into detail.”
