Ember Moon NXT return after lengthy injury

Ember Moon made her official  NXT return during TakeOver 31. Her return comes after a lengthy injury that saw her benched throughout her main roster career.

Moon’s Last NXT Performance

Ember Moon's last match took place in 2018

Ember has been on the main roster for quite some time. After all, her last match was in April 2018, where she lost a title match against Shayna Baszler.

It was expected that Ember Moon would make huge waves on the main roster. Unfortunately, she was plagued by injury.

During the interview, Ember admitted that 2019 was not the best year of her career.

“2019 was not my year. I ended up finding out I was hurt before the Rumble, and did immediate surgery after my elbow got locked into a 90-degree angle.”

Upon her return, Ember was drafted to SmackDown, but she never really got an opportunity there. Sometime later, she faced Lacey Evans on Raw, which led to another injury.

Needless to day, Ember Moon had nothing but injury problems on the main roster.

Ember Moon’s NXT Return

Ember Moon made her triumphant NXT return during TakeOver 31. With an impressive motorcycle entrance, she put the current women’s champion on notice.

And while Moon made the entrance look effortless, she admits she felt extremely nervous.

“My nerves kept building as I was walking out to the stage. All I could think was, ‘Crap, did I even shut the visor to the helmet?’ If you look quickly, I grab my helmet and checked. Then I took off the helmet, and it was an outstanding, memorable moment. I think it may have broke the internet for a hot minute. It reminded me that NXT is the place where I’m meant to be.”

A return to NXT is certainly the right thing for Ember Moon. After all, the main roster was not doing her any favors.

In spite of her obvious talent and charisma, it seems WWE did not seem too invested on Ember on the main roster. Of course, this is not these case on NXT.

Before she went to the main roster, Ember Moon was widely successful on the black and gold brand.

Ember’s main problem on the main roster was momentum. Whenever she was about to get a push, she got an injury that put her on the bench for several months.

How The Pandemic Affected Her

Moon also revealed that the pandemic affected her recovery. In fact, the recovery facility she attended got closed down due to the pandemic.

At the time, there was question if Ember would need a second surgery to fix the damage. Fortunately, she has now returned with a clean bill of health.

Ember also revealed one of the good sides about being injured:

“But the one good part was that I got to be home with my husband for the first time since we were married. So there was that upside.”

It remains to be seen if Triple H believes Ember Moon should be champion again. So far, Io Shirai has been quite the dominant champion.
