Why Is This School District Forbidding Parents From Watching What Their Children Are Taught?

A Tennessee school district is forcing parents to sign a form promising they will not monitor their children’s online classes. If a parent observe a class, their child will be removed. This has left those parents wondering what the school district and teachers are trying to hide from them.

School During The Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how many students are educated. Many schools are doing online classes or a hybrid of online and in person classes. This is an adjustment for parents, students, and teachers.

This gives parents a unique opportunity to see what their children are being taught. But, some teachers are saying NO! and demanding parents sit out.

Earlier this month, some teachers tweeted their concerns about them not being able to indoctrinate students on gender and sexuality issues.

So this form from Rutherford County Schools (RCS)  in Tennessee have parents wondering if this is the reason they are not permitted to observe online classes.

Tennessee School District Forbids Parent Monitoring Of Online Class

The Tennessee Star received a copy of the form that reads:

“RCS strives to present these opportunities in a secure format that protects student privacy to the greatest extent possible, however because these meetings will occur virtually RCS is limited in its ability to fully control certain factors such as non-student observers that may be present in the home of a student participating in the virtual meeting,” according to the form.

“RCS strongly discourages non student observation of online meetings due to the potential of confidential information about a student being revealed.”

If parents weren’t already planning on monitoring online classes, now they have a reason. What are they teaching children that they don’t want parents to monitor?

This isn’t a counseling session. It’s a class, so what confidential information about children would be revealed?

Parents Have A Right To Monitor Online Classes

Parents should have every right to know what their children are being taught. Transparency is the best disinfectant. If a school district is hiding from parents, there has to be a reason why.

This comes at time when toy manufacturers are being exposed for potentially using dolls to groom children for sex abuse.

Recently, Hasbro was forced to pull dolls from the shelf after a viral post showed one had a button on its genital area that made a giggle and gasping sound when touched. This was a hidden feature that was not marketed.

So of course parents are finding it important to inspect everything these days.

Furthermore, this is a public school and these online classes offer a unique window into seeing what they are taught.

But, this Tennessee school district is forbidding it. Why?
