Pedro Munhoz Tells Dana White he Wants Frankie Edgar Rematch “Now”

Immediately after his loss to Frankie Edgar on Saturday night, Pedro Munhoz vehemently protested the decision. Now, a couple of days later, the bantamweight contender’s calling on Dana White to book an immediate rematch.

Munhoz wants a rematch “now”

Munhoz faced the former lightweight champ in the main event of UFC Vegas 7, and after 25 minutes of non-stop action, Edgar was awarded the split decision win. During the post-fight presser, Munhoz argued that “without a doubt” he had won the fight, and he pointed to the fact multiple media outlets also had him as the winner.

Now, more recently, the dangerous fighter shared out this to White.

I’ve always done my talking in the octagon but this needs to be said. I work too hard to get screwed by poor judges who have no training and even less accountability.

Look at the stats and the damage. Look at the 17 of 20 media sites who agreed I won, 7 of which had it 49-46.

Tell me how the deciding judge gave round 3 to Frankie. He’s a legend, but I won that fight and want a rematch now @danawhite

If you’re wondering about the stats, Munhoz outstruck Edgar in four of the five rounds. The only round Edgar landed more strikes was in round two. Overall, Munhoz landed 166 significant strikes while Edgar scored with 135. 

Edgar did take Munhoz down on two occasions, but he was never able to keep the contender down for long.

Will Munhoz get his wish?

Chances are there’s a fair amount of people who would like to see this get run back. After all, the first fight was fantastic and there is a fair amount of debate going down, regarding the scoring.

But, unless Edgar and his team go out of their way and proactively step up here, a rematch seems unlikely. Edgar has taken a pivotal step towards title contention, and he could very well compete in a title shot eliminator next.

In other words, he probably has a lot to lose and little to gain by fighting Munhoz again.
