Darby Allin Knocked Silly

On this past week’s AEW Dynamite, it appeared as though one star may have suffered a concussion. Now reports indicate that Darby Allin was knocked silly.

In other news, it’s been reported that WWE nixed a risque segment featuring former 24/7 Champion Drake Maverick.

Darby Allin Knocked Silly

On the most recent AEW Dynamite, it seemed that Darby Allin suffered a possible concussion. Now, according to the Wrestling Observer, it seems that Darby Allin was knocked silly.

The reason this distinction is important? As of now, Allin is still slated to work next week’s live show.

If Allin was indeed concussed, it would be highly questionable to have him perform just a week after. Then again, there will surely be plenty of folks who speculate that “knocked silly” is no different than a slight concussion.

When you also take into account that Darby Allin only just returned from a month away, partly due to injury attributed to Brian Cage, you’d expect AEW to be cautious (assuming the first injury was legit).

That said, the tornado tag match is still on for next Wednesday, with Allin teaming with AEW Champion Jon Moxley. Of course, should Allin exhibit symptoms of a concussion, plans should and likely will change.

It wouldn’t be impossible for AEW to replace Moxley’s partner at the last minute. In the grand scheme, the skateboarding star’s long term health is more important.

As much as Tony Khan has said next week’s live Dynamite will be one of the biggest ever, Darby Allin should not risk his health in order to be a part of it.

WWE Nixed Risque Segment

We can all likely remember when Drake Maverick won the 24/7 Championship and subsequently brought it along with him to his wedding and beyond.

What we didn’t know until recently? WWE nixed a risque segment involving Maverick and his wife consummating their wedding.

WWE NXT Drake Maverick

Drake Maverick recently spoke to the UK’s Metro, where he revealed details about the shot-down segment.

During his title chase and reign, the rub was that his wife would not make the marriage official without the championship. Truth kept on getting in the way and winning back the title-during the wedding, in their hotel room and more.

So, Drake pitched that they spoof the legendary segment featuring WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Lita.

As funny as that rehash could have been, WWE Creative said no. It is possible that WWE felt that segment would have been too hot for current television, or just didn’t want to re-do the segment.

Whatever the reasoning, we won’t be seeing that on WWE programming.

The good news, however, is that in spite of his release earlier in 2020, we will still be seeing Drake Maverick. His segment and contract were nixed, but ultimately WWE decided to bring him back on.
