Nick Cannon Tom Bergeron The Masked Singer Fox

Earlier today, we reported that Fox accepted Nick Cannon’s apology for anti-Semitic comments that he made this week. And, they will allow him to keep hosting the television show “The Masked Singer.” Many fans are offended and want to see Cannon fired by Fox for his offensive remarks.

ViacomCBS which owns Nick and MTV, swiftly released Cannon after the incident. In contrast, Fox’s decision to keep Cannon on as “The Masked Singer” host isn’t sitting well with viewers. Now calls are growing online for Fox to fire Cannon and replace him with Tom Bergeron.

Bergeron, notably, was just fired from his longtime, Emmy-winning gig hosting “Dancing With The Stars”.

Nick Cannon Makes Anti-Semitic Comments

Cannon shocked his fans this week when he made some horrifically offensive remarks on his YouTube series “Cannons Class”.

The former “America’s Got Talent” host came under fire for saying that whites are inferior. He also said that both white and Jewish people are the “true savages”. Last, but not least, Cannon publicly denounced Jewish people by saying that it’s blacks who are the “true Hebrews.”

Despite his apology, ViacomCBS has since fired Cannon and released the following statement:

“ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism. We have spoken with Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him.”

It’s All In The Timing

The timing of this could not be more ironic given the fact that it comes just days after Tom Bergeron was fired by “Dancing With The Stars” with no warning despite the fact that he had been hosting the show since it premiered in 2005.

And, he had been nominated for nine Emmy Awards for his work on it, winning one in the process.

The popular dancing competition simply said that it wanted to move in a “new creative direction.” And, what exactly this meant became clear yesterday, when supermodel Tyra Banks was named as Bergeron’s replacement.

With the current racial climate the way it is, it appears “DWTS” no longer wanted to have an “old white guy” be the face of their show. Instead, producers are replacing its original host with a black woman who lasted just one season hosting “America’s Got Talent”.

Online fans have been quick to notice the bitter irony of this situation.

Jenifer’s tweet makes one think (typos and all).

Cannon’s fate would have been a done deal if he were a white man who said anything even remotely close to those remarks. Hollywood would’ve kicked him to the curb with no questions asked and no future prospects.

But Cannon remains gainfully employed with a high profile Hollywood hosting gig. So why is that? The answer – and the double standard – seem pretty clear.

Entertainment Tonight published a story suggesting Bergeron be Cannon’s replacement on “The Masked Singer. Well, we think that’s a fabulous idea. And so do DWTS fans!

Fans Call For Bergeron To Replace Cannon On “The Masked Singer”

Fans have made it clear online that they would certainly love to see Bergeron hosting the popular singing competition:

Cannon should be held accountable for his racism the way any white person in his position would be. There are plenty more hosts out there who aren’t racist that could take Cannon’s place. If anyone deserves it right now, it’s Tom Bergeron.

As someone who has hosted game shows for decades, the 65-year-old Bergeron would have no trouble taking Cannon’s place hosting “The Masked Singer.”

Plus, he just participated in season 3 of the competition. Who doesn’t want to see this?!
