UFC On ESPN Results: Alistair Overeem Tops Emotional Walt Harris

Song Yadong Vs. Marlon Vera

Despite some unknowns, we will open the main card with featherweight Song Yadong and Marlon Vera.

Yadong, a 22-year-old, had his seven-fight win streak snapped with a draw in December vs. Cody Stamman. Overall, he is 15-4-1 in his career.

Vera has scored wins in each of his last five, all of which have come inside the Octagon. He is 15-5-1.

Some very nice back-and-forth action here in the early going, with Yadong taking control of the center. Vera very strong fighting off the cage, powering his way out. Close round that ends in the clinch with Vera getting the better of it.

More good clinch work, which appears to be what Vera wants. Yadong has no interest and breaks free. Near the end of it, Vera takes control, rocking Yadong with several nice shots. Really nice way to kickoff the main card between these two featherweights.

Immediately, Yadong grabs control only to be flipped against the fence and taken down by Vera who is working to advance his position. Yadong gets off a few nice strikes but is once again shying away from action. Vera ends in a strong position which should allow him to take the decision.

Song Yadong def. Marlon Vera via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Eryk Anders Vs. Krzysztof Jotko

Up to the middleweight division we go with Eryk Anders taking on Krzysztof Jotko

Anders, a former college football player, has rebounded to score back-to-back wins following a touch 1-4 stretch. He started his career 10-0 and is now 13-4 overall.

Jotko has also won his last two after dropping three in a row. He sits at 21-4 for his MMA career.

Interesting matchup of southpaws here with both men showing no signs of backing down, immediately taking to the center of the Octagon looking to strike. Spinning attempt misses by Jotko and Anders clinches.

Anders puts a lot of energy into a takedown attempt. He gets Jotko down, but only for a brief moment. He releases another attempt, landing a few shots as the two separate. Jotko shoots for his own takedown and is denied.

Each time he sees an opening, Anders is going for a takedown. Jotko, though, has done a great job of defending most of the attempts. On the feet, they have been very close through nearly two rounds.

Starting the third with more of the same from Anders: pressure while searching for the takedown. His plan coming in has been simple and basic, but it is wearing on Jotko. When he has been able to get free, Jotko has done a solid job; he’s just spent the majority of this round in the clinch or with his back against the fence.

Krzysztof Jotko def. Eryk Anders via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Action continues on the next page.
