You Won’t Believe Why Jerry Seinfeld Is Begging Howard Stern For Forgiveness

The comedian Jerry Seinfeld is speaking out this week to beg the shock jock radio host Howard Stern for forgiveness for a surprising reason.

Seinfeld Issues Apology

Seinfeld, 70, is officially issuing an apology for saying that Stern, also 7o, is not funny.

“I really feel bad for what I said about my friend Howard Stern in a conversation with David Spade and Dana Carvey, talking about the glut of comedy podcasts,” Seinfeld told Page Six.

“I meant to say he must feel surrounded but I said ‘outflanked’ which sounded terrible and insulting,” he continued. “And of course, none of these little shows are any threat to his giant show. Anyway, it was bad and I’m sorry, Howie. I still love you. Please forgive me.”

Seinfeld made the comments that he has since apologized for while appearing on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast on Wednesday. While talking to hosts Dana Carvey and David Spade about the popularity of podcasts in general, Seinfeld admitted that Stern basically invented the format of them.

“But we’re better than him now,” Seinfeld said. “Howard is interesting. Howard is a great interviewer, but comedy chops, I mean, can we speak candidly?”

Spade replied by saying “sure,” but Carvey quickly tried to stop Seinfeld, pointing out that Stern’s show can be funny at times thanks to his co-host Robin Quivers and their guests.

“Yeah, they’re all great but let’s face it, he’s been outflanked,” Seinfeld said.

Seinfeld Doubles Down

Seinfeld went on to add that there are better comedy podcasts out there than Stern’s radio show, including the one hosted by Carvey and Spade.

“This is the best one on the air,” Seinfeld continued. “Because you guys play nice together, it’s smooth, you’re not jumping on each other, which is annoying to listen to.”

Not stopping there, Seinfeld also ripped into podcast hosts who share too much about their personal lives, though it was unclear if he was specifically talking about Stern at this point, according to The New York Post.

“Jesus Christ, make us laugh, how interesting do you think you are?” Seinfeld said. “You’re not that interesting, okay? You’re not. When you’re funny, you’re worth it. This is my line, which you know me, you know me, no but you know that I draw that line. If you’re not that funny, we’re not that interested in you.”

Stern has yet to comment on Seinfeld’s remarks. Watch Seinfeld appear on Stern’s show last year in the video below.

Stern And Seinfeld’s History

Both Stern and Seinfeld are residents of New York, and the latter has appeared on the former’s radio show many times over the years. Back in 2020, Seinfeld called Stern a “genius” while appearing on his program, according to People Magazine.

The year before that, Stern described Seinfeld as “accomplished” while promoting his book “Howard Stern Comes Again,” which included interviews with the comedian and other celebrities.

“With some of these people who are so accomplished, like Jerry Seinfeld, or Amy Poehler, they’re so accomplished, but you forget how hard they work to get where they got,” Stern said at the time.

Stern is known to be notoriously sensitive, so while he has yet to comment on Seinfeld’s remarks about him publicly, it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that he was offended by them. Only time will tell if their friendship is able to survive this.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
