As the unofficial start of summer is upon us, the action in the ring is heating up. The Intercontinental Tournament continues, and the main draw this week is Jeff Hardy and Sheamus.
If for some strange reason the title tournament doesn’t do it for you (perhaps you are a Sami Zayn fan), then how about Charlotte versus Bayley? That’s got to be a premium match, yet it’s happening on SmackDown.
One more for you to salivate over, if we must: AJ Styles versus Shinsuke Nakamura in another tournament match. The Intercontinental Tournament continues, and we can’t wait to see who makes it to the finals.
I don’t know about you, but I am excited for the card.
I will take AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura in this spot. I could have taken Hardy and Sheamus, but I think the earlier match was the better of the two.
Hard to choose. The mixed tag wasn’t hitting on all cylinders, but some.
I’d rather say I wasn’t a fan of Charlotte and Bayley. Really do not like heel versus heel matches, and this one was no different.
I have to go with Jeff Hardy for his win. The match wasn’t the most crisp, but we may never know if that was the design or not.
Regardless, Hardy’s redemption arc continues.
On a side note…and an important one…the true star of the week was Shad Gaspard.
The former WWE Superstar passed away after being pulled out to sea on Sunday. His last act, as we’ve been told, was to ensure his 10 year old son was rescued.
Yep. Star of the week right there.
Rest in peace, Shad.
Sadly, nothing really.
I mean, if you want to say Sheamus beating up Hardy on the announce table? Maybe?
Seems like a bit of a reach though.
Remember when it looked like AJ Styles was just working his way into the tournament as part of the cross-branding that has re-emerged?
Well…how about this bit of news that WWE dropped during the show.
Yep, that’s one way to ensure the Intercontinental Tournament continues in all the right ways.
Not the usual botch, but as much as I want to see Mandy and Sonya become one of the hot programs in WWE…it just hasn’t clicked.
Orton and Edge might end up being really good…but it’s beginning to feel like a running joke that WWE is dubbing it possibly the best wrestling match ever.
I mean…let the match happen first.
Speaking of the recently traded AJ Styles…
It was pretty obvious in the last few weeks that we were getting another match between Styles and Undertaker. While nothing has been announced, it’s hard to deny it’s coming.
My bet? SummerSlam.
Bayley and Charlotte. It’s two heels, and it is a match that we’ve seen quite a few times before.
Not that they aren’t talented or anything. Far from it.
I just want something a bit more fresh, and this one was not it.
AJ Styles coming over to SmackDown fulltime is exciting. Working against Nakamura, it seems they are going ahead with the babyface switch.
They gave us a head fake when he returned a couple weeks back, appearing face and then clearly being a heel by the end.
Now, it’s new brand, return of the old duds, and perhaps a decent face run.
Also enjoyed how Ziggler and Otis worked together, even if their tag partners came up short in their chemistry.
Well, one thing is for certain: we have a couple solid matches to look forward to.
