Supporters of Bernie Sanders are on the attack against Whoopi Goldberg after she asked the unrelenting Democratic presidential hopeful some tough yet valid questions on “The View.” This clash should have Democrats very concerned as we march towards the general election. 

The left wing ladies of “The View” don’t like the fact that Bernie Sanders is still in the Democratic primary. They are lining up behind Joe Biden and they want Bernie to drop out and pave a path for the memory-challenged former Vice President.

Even token conservative Meghan McCain is a personal friend of Joe Biden. So, when Bernie Sanders was guest on “The View”, Whoopi took her shot. 

Why Is Bernie Sanders Still In The Race?

“I have to ask you this question now because I have been watching to see what you were going to do, and I’m told that you intend to stay in this race for president because you believe there is a path to victory,” Whoopi asked Sanders.

“I want to know what that path is because this feels a little bit like it did when you didn’t come out when Hillary Clinton was clearly the person folks were going for.” 

When the socialist leaning Senator objected to her narrative, Whoopi bluntly asked, “Can you explain why you’re still in the race and what this path is that you see?” 

That’s when the segment got tense. Bernie Sanders didn’t like being challenged and Whoopi Goldberg soon found out that Bernie supporters didn’t appreciate it either.

When he started to lay out what he sees as his path to the nomination, Goldberg interrupted him. “Just so we’re clear, you worked for Hillary,” she said, “but it took you a very, very long time to hop in, and your people also, it took a very long time for them to hop in.” In turn, Sanders said he doesn’t “accept that characterization,” leading the moderator to repeat her original question more bluntly: “Why are you still in the race?” 

“Last I heard, people in a democracy have a right to vote, and they have a right to vote for the agenda that they think can work for America, especially in this very, very difficult moment,” Sanders said. “We are assessing our campaign, as a matter of fact, where we want to go forward, but people in a democracy do have a right to vote.  And right now in this unprecedented moment in American history, I think we need to have a very serious look at how we need to go forward.” 

Democrat Civil War

The on-air clash between Whoopi and Bernie lit a firestorm. And further highlighted the division within the Democratic primary.

This brand of political civil war is certain to cause issues for the Democrats in November. A fractured party will have trouble beating President Trump.

Bernie supporters immediately set their social media targets on Whoopi.

It doesn’t matter that she is a Democrat and likely agrees with most of Bernie’s platform. They see her as the enemy because she dared to ask a valid question.

Bernie Sanders’ reaction on “The View” makes it clear he doesn’t want to answer the challenging questions. And his supporters backed him up by showing they will not accept anyone asking them.
