It’s time for Elimination Chamber, which means it’s a Chamber In A Nutshell! This Chamber In A Nutshell is all about having fun in Philly. It’s a big event for WWE, as it’s the last big show before the biggest show of the year. This Elimination Chamber will let us know who will fight Becky Lynch in Tampa. It will also determine who leaves Philly as the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Outside of those two Chamber matches, there is plenty to tackle, which is why you are taking in this Chamber In A Nutshell to begin with. After this Chamber In A Nutshell is wrapped, it’ll be next stop, Tampa! So let us delay no more…it’s time to crack open this Chamber In A Nutshell!
I have to go with three matches, for three different reasons.
Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak…why? Because I love technical wrestling, and that was a clinic.
The tag team Elimination Chamber match…because I love tag teams, and that match was superb.
The women’s Chamber match, because Baszler was dominant. Happy that the rumors of Vince cooling on Shayna seem, so far, to be not an issue.
Was not a fan of the Intercontinental Championship match. Sure, having Sami Zayn win in an insanely heel way fit, but I just didn’t care for the match.
The big one, I suppose, is really Shayna Baszler. Main event winner, punched her ticket to face Becky Lynch in Tampa.
We had a few, pretty much all courtesy of the Chamber.
OK, this was probably obvious…or at least, I am sure I was not the only one who kind of expected this to happen…but as another escalation of the feud, The Undertaker dropped in to Philly and said hello to AJ Styles.
That pop…impressive.
A few gripes, as nothing can be perfect.
There were some spots in the 3 on 1 handicap match which were less than clean.
Undertaker looked like he was being quite careful with AJ Styles. Or, he didn’t get a good lift. Maybe both.
When Murphy was “getting heaved” into the barrier, right before the tag title finish? It looked questionable live…but on replay, it surely looked like it was a bit of a botch.
Just going to put this little factoid out there…
The dead time during the Chamber main event. If we had not just had a similar thing happen during the men’s Rumble, maybe that would not have gone over so poorly…but we did, and it did.
The tag title Chamber match was top notch, even if I wanted to see more from Heavy Machinery.
Bryan and Gulak. Bryan seems to have an ability to pick out some underused talent and help them get elevated. This time it was Gulak. He did something similar with Ali.
The RAW tag title match was strong too.
I liked that we did get the expected Baszler-Lynch battle, even if there are some valid gripes about the booking of the Chamber match.
All in all, I have to say I came into this card with low (or almost no) expectations. As the show faded to black, I was very pleasantly surprised. Was it the best show ever? Of course not. Was it better than you’d expect, based on the build? I think so, and I was not alone.
