Vince McMahon Reportedly ‘Very Happy’ With Rusev, Lana, Lashley Wedding Angle

Vince McMahon WWE Push

According to a report by Paul Davis of Wrestling News, WWE chairman Vince McMahon is said to be “very happy” with the end result to the recent Raw wedding angle between Bobby Lashley, Lana and Rusev.

The angle, which closed out the final 2019 Raw of the year, featured several guest appearances. It ended with Rusev attacking Lashley after emerging from an oversized cake situated inside the ring.

The report states that “Vince has wanted to do more crazy stories like this, but he has to balance things out to satisfy (executives) at USA and the sponsors.”

Overrun numbers for the segment did very well and “Vince is in a good mood.”

Paul Heyman, the Raw executive director, is reportedly behind Liv Morgan being included in the angle. Plans could run all the way up to WrestleMania 36 for the angle, with the report adding “there is some Jerry Springer stuff coming.”

Eight tag teams will compete in the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament this year, the WWE announced.

All four first round matchups have been determined, including a battle between NXT tag team champions, The Undisputed Era of Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish, and NXT UK tag team titleholders, Gallus of Mark Coffey and Wolfgang.

Other opening round bouts include Imperium (Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner) meeting The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler); Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne taking on Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster; and Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) going up against Kushida and a mystery partner.

Meet The Participants

Then, the pairings for the semifinals will see the winners between Imperium and The Forgotten Sons meeting either Riddle/Dunne or Andrews/Webster. On the other side, Grizzled Young Veterans or Kushida and his partner will take on Gallus or Undisputed Era.

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is named in honor of the late Dusty Rhodes, who passed away in 2015. The WWE Hall of Famer was a key part to the rise of the tag team division, both as a wrestler and behind the scenes during his day in Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW.

This marks the fifth year the event has been held. Last year, Aleister Black and Ricochet were declared the winners. In 2018, The Undisputed Era of Adam Cole and O’Reilly won the tournament and the NXT tag team belts, with The Authors of Pain and the team of Finn Balor and Samoa Joe also winning it.
